■ “ROCKY HORROR SHOW” is a blockbuster musical comedy that pays humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the 1940’s to the 1970’s.  It tells the story of Brad Majors and Janet Weiss, a straight-laced, newly engaged couple, that have a breakdown and get caught in a terrible storm.  They stumble upon the castle of Dr. Frank-n-Furter, a mad transvestite scientist, who is having a party to celebrate the unveiling of his newest creation, Rocky Horror, a man-made Adonis that will give absolute pleasure! Rocky Horror is a powerful musical that sparked a cult movement. It is the perfect show for Puerto Vallarta because it brings together people from all walks of life, exploring freedom from normal heterosexuality and embracing androgyny and queer sexual awakenings.

■ THE KINSEY SICKS!

We are so thrilled to welcome back (for their third year), the world-acclaimed “beautyshop” quartet, THE KINSEY SICKS! This hilarious group will present an updated, “ribald, ridiculous, raunchy, decidedly R-rated romp” of political comedy in their own imitable style!  Having been together for more than 20 years, the KINSEY SICKS have performed around the world, presenting a cornucopia of music and comedy to all kinds of audiences…. starting on a street corner in San Francisco in 1994, graduating to venues in most of the US states, Canada, Australia, Europe and Mexico! Their award-winning a cappella singing, sharp satire and over-the-top drag have earned them a diverse and devoted following!

■ “IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE!” is one of the most well-known and heart-warming Christmas stories ever!  It is the story of an angel that is sent from Heaven to help a desperately frustrated businessman by showing him what life would have been like if he had never existed. Act II will bring this beloved American holiday classic back to life as a live 1940s radio broadcast! Its original twist, clever use of props, entertaining voices and a love story that you want to witness over and over again creates a fresh and inventive way of reconnecting with a classic story of love and redemption.

■ PVGMC HOLIDAY SHOW

Celebrate the holidays with the Puerto Vallarta Gay Men’s Chorus (PVGMC), directed by Alfonso Lopez, Act II Director of Music! The chorus (and selected ensembles) will present a cornucopia of traditional Mexican, American, and Canadian carols, as well as some beloved sacred music and fun pop songs.  The PVGMC chorus uses the talents of gay men from Mexico, the United States and Canada.  They perform choral music that entertains, enlightens and unifies the audience, as well as its members, while building bridges of greater understanding, acceptance and love between communities, cultures, families, and friends.  They are warmly embraced by the local Mexican and Ex-Pat community, as well as tourists of both cultures.

■ SOME ENCHANTED EVENING – THE SONGS OF ROGERS & HAMMERSTEIN

A Special Christmas Week Event!

More so than any composer and lyricist who have written for the stage, the songs of Rodgers & Hammerstein have become an integral part of our everyday lives. We sing them in the shower, we dance to them in ballrooms, we hear them on the radio and in clubs and, yes, in elevators and supermarkets too. We still thrill to see them on the live stage in their respective shows, and we teach their songs to our children.  Act II presents this stunning collection of compositions in a theatrical setting, FIRST, “back-stage” where the songs are sung as personal interplay, and then “onstage”, where the performers have the opportunity to explore the songs within their own styles and sensibilities! This magical program will offer you a glorious parade of unforgettable hits!

■ CALIFORNIA DREAMIN’

Back for their 5th season at Act II, Rhonda Padmos and Don Pope will once again present their popular show, CALIFORNIA DREAMIN’, featuring the unforgettable music of the Mamas and the Papas!  This show features LIVE MUSIC, with singers in the characters of the original band members, Cass Elliot, Michelle Phillips, John Phillips and Denny Doherty.  An upbeat, “feel-good” show, California Dreamin’ takes you back through a musical time machine when folk music was transitioning to psychedelic pop hits. This music shaped a generation and mirrored the California music scene from Laurel Canyon to the “flower children” of San Francisco. It reflected the “make love not war,” message of the peace movement.  Rhonda Padmos and Don Pope are well-known Puerto Vallarta musicians who are producing this exciting tribute show. They are Canadians who arrived in PV in the 80’s as guest musicians on THE LOVE BOAT. Currently, in their 5th season at ACT II with shows like Come Together (Beatles tribute), Rumors (Fleetwood Mac tribute), The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sordid Lives, A Chorus Line and Tapestry (music of Carole King), Rhonda and Don are thrilled to bring this exciting show back to Act II!

■ WOODSTOCK 69

Rhonda Padmos and Don Pope have a brand-new show this year that’s sure to bring back lots of memories!  It’s called WOODSTOCK 69, a festival of LIVE MUSIC and peace, featuring a tribute to the music of the women of Woodstock… Janis Joplin, Joan Baez, Grace Slick, Melanie, and Nancy Evins.  It also features the music of Jimmy Hendrix, Ritchie Havens, Sweetheart, Arlo Guthrie, Santana, Country Joe MacDonald, The Who, Ravi Shankar, Jefferson Airplane, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and Bob Dylan, and THE BAND!  Rhonda and Don are incredible musicians!  Currently, in their 5th season at ACT II with shows like California Dreamin’ (Mamas & Papas), Come Together (Beatles tribute), Rumors (Fleetwood Mac tribute), The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sordid Lives, A Chorus Line and Tapestry (music of Carole King), Rhonda and Don have a huge following, and their shows are much loved and anticipated at Act II stages!

■ “XANADU”

Xanadu is the irresistible musical/comedy that is based on the 1980 cult classic film of the same name.  This Tony Award-nominated, hilarious, roller skating, musical adventure about following your dreams is hilarity on wheels for adults, children and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired.  Xanadu follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first ROLLER DISCO! (Hey, it’s 1980!) But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation, and chaos abounds.Xanadu is a moving, electrifying tale of endless fun that will keep you in stitches while, the original legendary, chart-topping tunes will lift you out of your seat.  You will want to keep the music in your head and Xanadu in your heart… forever.

■ LORENA PERIL, “QUEEN” OF VALLARTA, RETURNS FOR 3 DAYS IN FEBRUARY!

For the third year in a row, the sensational Lorena Peril, along with her hubby, Ray Jon Narbaitz, burst headlong into the Puerto Vallarta entertainment scene and CHANGED IT FOREVER!  We are absolutely thrilled to welcome back our very own Lorena and Ray Jon to Act II Stages again this season!!

Lorena and Ray Jon are both seasoned performers.  Lorena had been a headliner in Las Vegas for many years when she met Ray Jon, a well-known guitarist.  They fell in love, got married and left Las Vegas and traveled to Europe. Lorena landed the role of Sandy in an arena tour of “Grease” that wound through the U.K., Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Italy.  Upon their return to Las Vegas, they developed their very funny and quirky “Sonny and Charo” type of cabaret show and brought it to Puerto Vallarta.  The entire city fell in love with them, and many fans returned over and over to see their show! It received absolutely outstanding reviews and was THE show to see!

Fast forward to the present…..  Lorena is a headline singer in Anita Mann´s show, “FANTASY,” at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas.   Since she returned home to Las Vegas, Lorena has been overwhelmed by the many loyal friends and fans from Puerto Vallarta that have made the trip to Las Vegas, just to see her show!!  This incredible following has not gone unnoticed by FANTASY producers, so, for the past two years, Lorena has been able to arrange a few days off so that she and Ray Jon could return to Puerto Vallarta for this annual three-day event!  This will be a 3-day continuous party, and it’s guaranteed that all three shows will sell out!

■ “PLAZA SUITE”

Plaza Suite is a hilarious comedy, composed of three acts, all set in Room #719 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.  In the first act, “Visitor from Mamaroneck,” a middle-aged married couple tries to rekindle their dying spark. In the second act, “Visitor from Hollywood,” a film producer invites his childhood sweetheart to a hotel for sex. In the final act, “Visitor from Forest Hills,” a bride has locked herself in the bathroom on her wedding day, as her parents desperately try to get her out.Plaza Suite is produced by the elite PV production team, NuName Productions, and directed by Edoardo Rocha. Overflowing with gags, jokes, one-liners and laughable human frailties, Plaza Suites is a sparkling gem.

ACT II ENTERTAINMENT CELEBRATES THE 100 YEAR BIRTHDAY WITH A PRODUCTION OF NIGHT OF THE IGUANA

APRIL – MAY 2018

THE MOVIE PRODUCTION THAT PUT PUERTO VALLARTA ON THE MAP MAKES STAGE DEBUT AT ACT II

The Night of the Iguana written by American author Tennessee Williams. In 1940s Mexico an ex-minister, the Reverend T. Lawrence Shannon, has been locked out of his church after characterizing the Western image of God as a “senile delinquent”, during one of his sermons. Shannon is not defrocked, but he is institutionalized for a nervous breakdown.  Sometime after his release, the Rev. Shannon obtains employment as a tour guide for a second-rate travel agency. Shortly before the opening of the play, Shannon is accused of having committed statutory rape of a sixteen-year-old girl,[Charlotte Goodall, who is accompanying his current group of tourists.

As the curtain rises, Shannon and a group of women arrive at a cheap hotel on the coast of Mexico that had been managed by his friends Fred and Maxine Faulk. The former has recently died, and Maxine Faulk has assumed sole responsibility for managing the establishment.

Struggling emotionally, Shannon tries to manage his tour party, who have turned against him for entering into sexual relations with the minor, and Maxine, who is interested in him for purely carnal reasons. Adding to this chaotic scenario, spinster Hannah Jelkes appears with her moribund grandfather Nonno who, despite his failing health, is composing his last poem. Jelkes, who scrapes by as traveling painter and sketch artist, is soon at Maxine’s mercy. Shannon, who wields considerable influence over Maxine, offers Hannah Jelkes shelter for the night. The play’s main axis is the development of the deeply human bond between Hannah Jelkes and Lawrence Shannon.
