Puerto Vallarta Theater Shows Amy Armstrong at Nacho Daddy. The Puerto Vallarta community is blessed with the pairing of two of our top lady singers. Amy has worked for years here, has been in the business for twenty-five years and is now a definite legend and necessary element of local music. Kami brings much stage experience to this venue, having been in the leading casts of a number of local musical plays. The duo approached the front and went into a little skit about watching a live show. They jumped up and started with Meghan Trainor’s “Me Too”. They strutted the stage self-assuredly and boldly declaring “I can’t help lovin’ myself And I don’t need nobody else”.

The ladies were fortunate to have Dennis Crow as their pianist accompanist. He is a marvel on the keys, adding only the proper amount of notes so as not to overpower their voices but to compliment. One could see the women’s pleasure with having him on stage as part of their new show.

Amy discussed that her last chemo treatment was endured and she has been back on stage, with Piel Canela Imagine: The Beatles and now as a duo. Kami declared “You are a RockStar.” Amy has known this song recorded by many singers, starting with Leon Russel, and felt that the lyrics were appropriate to the feeling tonight: “A Song For You”. Her voice is ‘angelic’ as she says and indescribably deeply rich.

Kami broke into “Happy Feet” and her feet certainly were, as she tapdanced across the space. The audience loved her choreographic display. Her smile makes everyone a bit more happy inside themselves. This is an upbeat, positive and fun show and the vibes are contagious.

“Anything Better Than You” from Annie Get Your Gun featured the two divas battling for one-upmanship. A humorous part was where they fought as to who could sing higher than the other. Kami won hands-down and Amy shrugged it off after sending her vocal cords very high but not enough. “Yes, I can. No, you can’t.” They edged into a competitive ‘highest note possible’ game.

A special event happened when Amy started “It Don’t Mean A Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing”, then at the other end Kami sang “I Could Have Danced All Night”. They traveled back and forth meshing the two songs beautifully.

Amy spoke of Kami cheering her up when the pain increased and knew reggae music [from Jamaica] always raised her spirits with its swinging jazzy beat. The show theme was summed up with “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” mashed with “Stir It Up”. One more? Amy and Kami sent everyone down the stairs with a touching “Earned It” by The Weeknd from Fifty Shades of Grey.

These two beloved divas only have five more shows, so secure your tickets soon since the followers have found their show and many more will follow their path to delightful singing and humor.
