“Summertime,” “I Got Rhythm,” “Nice Work if You Can Get It,” “S’Wonderful,” “Embraceable You,” “Someone to Watch Over Me,” and so many more… all George Gershwin hits! Did you know that? We didn’t! ‘Til now! George Gershwin (1898-1937) was one of America’s most influential music composers and pianists who worked in both classical and popular styles. Most of his songs were written to words by his brother, Ira Gershwin. Some of his most well-known works are Rhapsody in Blue, An American in Paris and Porgy and Bess, which is considered to be one of the most important American operas of the 20th century.
“I’ve Got Rhythm” is a fascinating musical revue, featuring the glorious music of the Gershwins. “It features choral music, duets, solos, and mini vignettes of song, dance and story, that represent many of the real events that occurred in the lives of the Gershwin brothers,” says director, Alfonso Lopez. “Each song ‘sparkles’ with pure ‘Americana’ from the 1920’s and 30’s. Song, dance, fun, joy, and exuberance are performed by six of the most talented singers in Puerto Vallarta.” Come and take a step back in time as you enjoy this art-deco styled theme of Gershwin music, starring the “king and queen” of Vallarta’s musical revues, Alfonso Lopez and Marsha Ward Ross, along with Mary Jo Nelson, Sasha del Oceano, Alberto Ponce, and Andrew Sands!
