In this funny and touching tribute, David Maiocco as Liberace and Chuck Sweeney portraying Peggy Lee present a musical and comedy show singing and talking as their legends but retaining their own personalities and ad-libbing as various stories are related.

Danni Mininni Founding Partner of Act II Entertainment introduced this duo as being part of the early shows in The Red Room Cabaret, jesting that he now calls them “The Five O’Clock Shadow”. He credited Nathan Frye and Allen McMullen for recommending their friends for a run in Puerto Vallarta for the first time. The entire theatrical community thanks them since this evening was a special magical moment not to be missed.

Liberace played the piano in a spectacular over-the-top fashion true to his personage. Dressed in the shiniest silver pants and coat, jewelry which would make Tiffany’s jealous and hair puffy and blown back, Liberace was right here onstage. He blasted the attention-getting “Boogie Woogie [Eight to the bar]”. Fingers flew across the ivories from one far end to the other. Sutton Lee Seymour came out and previewed a song from his current show here DragFlix but since it was a bit risque she sang it in Spanish, inducing giggles in the crowd, particularly from Spanish-speaking individuals. She delivered “¿Como Te Gusta Mi Pinga?”.

Liberace called for the lady of the night, Peggy Lee and she was equally as glamorous, true to the style of this icon. Setting the mood for tonight “I’m a Woman” [W-o-m-a-n] convinced all within view and earshot that this was an accurate Miss Lee. A flamboyant pleaser was the old classic “Tea For Two”. David sings very well while playing his keyboard. The two musical talents form an awesome combination.

Miss Lee chatted about her many famous friends and went down low with Tina Turner starting ‘nice and slow’ then changing to ‘nice and rough’ The audience knew from that lead-in and the familiar beat that the song was “Proud Mary”. She spun and twirled while David brought that rock beat from his keys. Then he dove into a dance with “Beer Barrel Polka”: ‘Roll out the barrel. We’ll have a barrel of fun.’ The crowd was having just that, a barrel o fun. One could tell by the uproarious reception after each tune. These two Lees are in control and professionally gave a vision of stardom both iconic and their very own. Each has toured extensively performing in all sizes of venues. One wonders how many thousands of shows are under their glittery garb.

“The Party’s Over” from her 1960 album ‘Latin Ala Lee” featuring songs performed with a Latin beat. She acknowledged that she was South of the Border in Mexico so imparted “Malagueña”. David’s piano was twinged in the beat and Chuck emitted the words describing a charming lady with pretty eyes. Peggy needed to sing her signature song, with a few lyrical changes, “Is That All There Is”. Her rendition was one of the evening’s highlights. “Fever” was strikingly dramatic with flashes of red lights each time Miss Lee sang ‘Fever’. Pow, like a flash of lightning from the ceiling. She even created laughter with her modern approach to Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass”: ‘All the right junk in all the right places’. She could absolutely do no wrong.

Their declaration was “Enter as strangers and end up as friends”. One sensed that the two stars enjoyed themselves on this opening night of their first show, first in this area. Standing ovations signaled that everyone wants them to return. A possible omen was their choice of “I’ll Be Seeing You” as their encore tune before everyone drifted away.
