  • Get there on Monday or Tuesday

If possible, arrive at the beginning of the week. The important festivals start on Holy Thursday, so you will have a few days to relax before the festivities. You can take this time to head to the mall and shop for some cool outfits for the upcoming parties.

  • Try to travel in the morning

Semana Santa is the busiest vacation period of the year for the city. The traffic is lighter early in the morning than in the evening when most people want to experience the nightlife of Puerto Vallarta.

  • Ask locals for guidance

Many visitors have not only fallen in love with the stunning natural beauty of Puerto Vallarta, but also with the friendly locals. They genuinely enjoy interacting with visitors, and although Spanish is the national language in Mexico, English is widely spoken. Don’t hesitate to ask the locals if you need advice, directions or guidance.

  • Stay in Zona Romantica of Puerto Vallarta

Your choice of where to stay in Puerto Vallarta can majorly affect how much you enjoy your trip! To live the best gay experience of PV, try to stay in Zona Romantica or Old Town Puerto Vallarta, which is the best area for LGBTQ+ travelers. This gay neighborhood has the beach, restaurants, bars, and popular destinations within walking distance.

  • Buy presale party tickets

Since Semana Santa is full of national and international visitors, tickets can sell out in minutes. Fortunately, most clubs have presale tickets for the biggest parties of the weekend. If you have presale tickets with you, you won’t have to worry or be stressed over tickets being sold out due to high demand, and you can rest over the fact that your event access is guaranteed. Check out GayPV.com to see all the upcoming events for this week!

  • Watch yourself

If you’re alone, be careful about who you trust and avoid overindulging. The festivities are fantastic and full of wonderful people, but don’t be lulled into a false sense of security and always keep an eye on your drink. If possible try to take a ride share or taxi home, rather than walking at night by yourself.

  • Get to the beach early

Playa Los Muertos is unrivaled for the real Puerto Vallarta beach experience. During Easter, it is very popular amongst locals and visitors, and it starts to fill up by 11:00 am. If you plan to go to the beach club, lay in the sand with your umbrella, hang out with friends, or have a swim in its beautiful water, go early!

  • Don’t drink alcoholic beverages in the street

It is illegal to drink alcohol in the street. And although you can drink alcohol outside the bars, it’s not allowed on public streets. Remember, the street is not an open bar.

  • Share your real-time location with friends

Whether you’re going for a walk, riding an Uber or visiting a Grindr flirt, it’s best that your friends always know where you are. With a focus on having a safe trip, checking each other’s locations is always an important thing to do.

  • Always carry cash

While you can use your credit or debit card in many places, some restaurants, clubs and bars in PV only accept cash. Also, having cash is one of the most important things to have in case of an emergency.

  • Rest between each party

Who doesn’t love to play hard, especially with all these incredible parties. But, in order to keep drinking and dancing, you need some down time. Without rest, the body can experience fatigue and muscle pain. Allow the body to recover with a good night sleep and you will be able to enjoy the rest of your vacation.
