Gay Beach Club Puerto Vallarta

gay beach club puerto vallarta

Are you looking for the guide to the Best Gay Beach Club Puerto Vallarta? We have the insider tips helping you make the best choice. For this insider guide we are considering all the clubs located in the Zona Romantica. We are also considering a beach club as a business offering some kind of seating on the sand of the beach. Third, let’s tell you how it all began. The original gay beach club was established by Blue Chairs Hotel in the 1980’s. This was a very small club but it was the original congregating space for all gay travelers. As they invited their friends and other gay tourists joined them this became the place to be. As LGBTQ tourism and the number of travelers continued to increase, Blue Chairs beach could not hold them and the next door Ritmos Cafe “Green Chairs” started benefitting from the LGBTQ business.  In January 2014, things changed as the Meza family, owners of the Hotel Meza Del Mar, decided to remodel and rebrand this hotel into a luxury resort specifically for the LGBT community. The result was Mantamar Beach Club our number one pick for the best gay beach club in Puerto Vallara.

Mantamar Beach Club and Sushi Malecon #169 is conveniently located in the Zona Romantica with the following amenities

  • a huge infinity pool with swim up bar and three built in jazuzzis
  • large palapa restaurant with an innovative menu created by internationally renowned chef Thierry Blouet
  • showers and lockers
  • luxury day bed cabanas and ocean front lounge chairs in the sand

Mantamar redefined the entire experience for the LGBTQ traveler to Puerto Vallarta. Besides providing these amenities at the already established gay beach steps away, they began sponsoring some of the biggest circuit parties in Puerto Vallarta such as Beef Dip, H20 festival, Vallarta Pride, White Party PV, Vallarta Heat, Sunland. This quickly made Mantamar ground zero for all things gay. For these reasons, it is the best gay beach club in Puerto Vallarta.

Blue Chairs Beach Club Malecón y Almendro No.4 As we indicated earlier, it all began with Blue Chairs. Their exclusive adults only gay beach club has become an internationall known favorite among the LGBT community, whether you live in Vallarta full time or are just visiting. At Blue Chairs, you’ll enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, excellent food and drinks, all while enjoying “Los Muertos”, the most famous gay beach in Mexico. Amenities include a palapa covered restaurant, blue chairs of course, umbrellas or maybe a palapa. One of the most popular spots was the outside shower near the restaurant facing the beach. It was out in the public clothes on shower to cool off and rinse the sand, but was a good way to look at someone cooling off while in their swim suit.

These are the gay friendly beach club options located in the Romantic Zone. Some are more gay friendly than others.

la palapa beach club      la palapa beach club

La Palapa Restaurant Pulpito #103. If you are looking for tradition, luxury and quality on the beach, La Palapa is your place. Many people say La Palapa was the first beach club located in the zona romantica. The year was 1957 when there was no bridge across the Río Cuale and to travel to this side of town, a jeep or one of the two existing taxis needed to be hired, as long as the river wasn’t too high! The original “palapa,” or “thatched roof” was designed and constructed by Guillermo Wulff and all materials were authentic and very “tropical.” Exotic drinks served in handblown glassware, live music and freshly caught seafood from the bay prepared with local ingredients and recipes were the specialties.  La Palapa amenities include a palapa covered restaurant, extendable beach chairs, umbrellas and tables while you people watching.

el dorado beach club         el dorado beach club

El Dorado Restaurant and Beach Club Pulpito 102 El Dorado has been a prime beachfront destination since the early 1960’s. Sitting on one of the most popular beaches in Puerto Vallarta, the Beach Club is the perfect place to lay out and enjoy an ice cold Pacifico beer and an order of Fresh Fish Ceviche while sunbathing on our beautiful lounge chairs. The menu offers Modern Mexican featuring Puerto Vallarta dishes and regional ingredients with the best views of the bay. Amenities include a large covered palapa restaurant and tables and lounge chairs in the sand.

si senor beach club         si senor beach club

Si Senor Restaurant and Beach Club Amapas #114-c on the beach side of Hotel Emperador. Located steps north from the new Los Muertos Pier and the gay area, this beachclub restaurant offers a complete menu of delicious and authentic Mexican recipes. The amenities include a covered open air dining room restaurant, a covered tent in the sand for shade and choice of dining table, chaise lounge chair or big umbrella.

ritmos beach club             ritmos beach club

Ritmos Beach Cafe “Green Chairs” Malecón #177 Prior to Mantamar opening, Ritmos was the most popular (the only) beach club option in Puerto Vallarta. It was located right next to Blue Chairs. It was the largest space and benefitted from the LGBT market without really even wanting in. Amenities include beach palapas, umbrellas and not always comfortable chairs, food and drinks, and an upstairs covered restaurant called the “upstairs stage” never used in the day time. Occassionally musical performers would perform in the evenings for dinner but this concept never seemed to fully develop. One popular spot was the overhead shower near the public bathrooms. It was an out in the public clothes on shower that provided no privacy but was a good way to look at someone cooling off while in their swim suit.

Why is Puerto Vallarta’s Los Muertos so popular? It is conveniently located inside the romantic zone. This old town south side of Puerto Vallarta has been the hotspot of international gay travelers since the 1980’s. Because of the many nearby gay and gay friendly hotels and condo rentals, during the day there is always a large concentration of gay tourists and residents enjoying the almost 300 days of sun. In the afternoon and evening tourists can walk holding hands under the dazzling sunset of the Pacific Ocean. Just steps to the north ther are many top rated restaurants like La Palapa, El Dorado, Si Senor and Daiquiri Dicks to enjoy a great meal. These are also great places for a gay wedding or sunset cocktails.
