Puerto Vallarta has become one of the safest places for the LGBTQ community. The city has embraced the LGBTQ community for many years and invites you to connect, be a part of and enjoy everything gay Puerto Vallarta has to offer.  In PV, LGBTQ visitors can enjoy themselves during the day, party all night, walk around safely, enjoy the night on the town, and just about anything else in between like great restaurants and other activities. No need to feel unsafe or afraid. You’ll see the streets in the romantic zone are well-lit, clubs stay open all night, and there are plenty of friendly faces as everything is near by and walkable. It is safe and the perfect place to enjoy a gay Pride festival.

When Is Puerto Vallarta Gay Pride?

2023 will be the tenth year Vallarta will host one the most popular LGBTQ Pride festivals in the world — Vallarta Pride May 23-30, 2023. It is the week before US Memorial day normally ending on Memorial Day. During this week of May, you’ll find fun gay events from several different organizers for circuit boys, women only events, bears and local culture, all in a vibrant gay atmosphere. The 2023 Vallarta Pride festival is not one you will want to miss. It will be bigger and better than the festivals of prior years and will host renowned local and international talent.

The first Puerto Vallarta Pride event only began in 2013. However, Vallarta pride grew quickly and even more substantially since the COVID pandemic when the city was discovered by many as they could not travel to Europe. So make your arrangements early to ensure you get the best place to stay and you get to attend the most exclusive and fun events.

Vallarta Pride Parade

The Pride Parade in Puerto Vallarta has traditionally been on Thursday during pride week. It starts at the Sheraton and finishes at Rudolfo Gomez at OneSixOne and Anonimo bar in the romantic zone. Along the parade line, you will see plenty of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the sights from the comfort of a shady table.

The Street Block Party

There is normally a street block party between CC Slaughter’s to 69 Strip Club immediately after the parade. The are thousands in the street enjoying a large entertainment stage of booths and pride entertainment so enjoy the fun.

Lots of Daytime Events At The Beach Clubs

One of the first things to check out is Los Muertos beach from Daiquiri Dick’s and Blue Chairs to Mantamar.  You’ll find pool parties and various events organized by different beach clubs. The atmosphere at the beach clubs varies from world class circuit parties or you can just sit under an umbrella and sip a cocktail as you watch the nearby fun. Some beach clubs are free, while others charge a cover. If you’re stumped and don’t know where to go, look at the most popular events on our event calendar.

  • Daiquiri Dick’s Newly remodeled and new gay ownership with delicious new menu and lots of pride fun.
  • Mantamar Beach Club: The beach club of Almar resort, where world class circuit parties are during the day until midnight.
  • Blue Chairs: A iconic gay hotel with amenities for everyone.
  • Sapphire:  Here is a fantastic beach club with excellent food and drinks. Make your reservation as the club does get booked quickly .

Take A Gay Boat Cruise

Another excellent daytime LGBTQ activity is a catamaran boat cruise with Wet and Wild Cruise. It is a clothing-optional with an open bar around the Puerto Vallarta coast.  These boat cruises are one of the most popular gay activities in Puerto Vallarta with several to choose from.

Mantamar Pride Events

Mantamar beach club hosts the pride circuit events starting around Wednesday and running through Monday US Memorial Day. They host event dinners at Top Bar and daytime pool and night circuit parties at Mantamar. There is normally a cover, but it is well worth attending. Just remember to book ahead of time as many sell out weeks in advance.

Bar Hopping Or Cabaret in The Romantic Zone

One of the most entertaining things you can do during Pride week is going gay bar hopping. There are many places to go, and if you are unsure, take the inclusive tour.  Give yourself the perfect opportunity to mingle and get to know other visitors. Some of the gay bars you will want to visit are Mr. Flamingo, La Noche, Studs Bear Bar, or 69 Strip Club. Consider the cabaret option that visits the amazing gay cabaret and theatre like Act 2 PV or The Palm Cabaret and Bar.

Pride Pool Parties

If you come to PV for Pride, you’ve got to experience one of the great pool parties. The most popular of these are:

  • Casa Cupula: Pool parties hosted by Bearadise for Bear Gay Pride. It is an all-male and clothing optional for bears and their friends.
  • Mantamar Beach Club is one of Pride week’s biggest parties. Circuit parties starting at noon with the pool overflowing with sexy men in speedos, with cocktails and lots of dancing until midnight.
  • Amaria Villas: An exclusive pool party with DJ and bar. Food and drinks are available, and the party goes  until daylight.

Where to Stay During Pride Week

You can get acclimated to Puerto Vallarta by checking in to your place and heading straight to Playa del Muertos Beach. So, where do you stay to get to all this action? Hopefully, you have made reservations for your accommodations before the festival. As locals, we can suggest that the best place to stay is in a private vacation villa, close to the action but far enough away to walk or take a short cab ride to where the step is.

An example of one of these homes is Villa Celeste, a gorgeous Vallarta-styled, Mexican beachfront vacation home that enchants visitors shown above. Located in Conchas Chinas. It is a 5-bedroom Mexican Hacienda home that can accommodate 10 to 12 guests and has an entire staff to give guests a 5-star accommodation experience. Imagine enjoying all the fun events of Vallarta Pride, and then head home to enjoy the pool, a relaxing massage, and a lovely meal made by your chef. You’ll feel like you’ve died and gone to heaven.

Another genuinely spectacular home you may wish to book during Pride Festival is Casa La Palma (shown above), located in an exclusive neighborhood just a few minutes from the Romantic Zone and all the Gay Pride activities. Casa la Palma is a contemporary home featuring understated elegance that sits on the beach but also has gorgeous views of the Sierra Madre Mountains. The four-bedroom suites are ideal for a group Gaycation during the Vallarta Pride festival.

Book your Accommodations Early

If you are convinced that the Pride festival is the time to come to Puerto Vallarta, be sure to book your stay and your flight early. Vallarta fills up fast and you want to be close to the Pride events without sacrificing your privacy or comfort. Come to Vallarta Pride 2023. You won’t regret it, and if you are looking for a spectacular place to stay, be sure to visit Villa Experience in Puerto Vallarta.
