Puerto Vallarta Gay Pride listed on National Geographic Top Pride List. Puerto Vallarta’s annual Gay Pride has made another top Pride list. National Geographic has compiled a list of 7 top events that champion diversity and inclusion around the world. These celebrations vary in size and scope but share a universal mission of promoting LGBT equality and human rights. They have also become major tourism initiatives. Community Marketing Inc. a San Francisco-based research firm specializing in the community, has consistently found that many LGBT travelers plan their vacations to coincide with attending these events.
Vallarta Pride 2018 saw almost every hotel, bar, club and restaurant full from May 23-27, 2018. Now in its second year, the newly formed block party held in Lazaro Cardenas street immediately after the parade had many thousand attendees. International celebrities like Andrew Christian, Eliad Cohen, Steve Grand, Alejandra Bogue, and Lorena Herrera were on hand for the main events. International press from Outtraveler, Instinct, Boysmx, and Queerty also were in town to attend the pride events. The Advocate featured a photo gallery covering Vallarta Pride 2018 only days after the event. According to Misterbnb, Puerto Vallarta is in their Top 20 city list with bookings in Puerto Vallarta growing 200% in 2018 compared to 2017.
Some unique events, like the Pulpito Drag Derby, are held during Vallarta Pride. Attendees bet on their favorite drag queen to race on the cobblestones of Pulpito Street and participate in a unique obstacle course with proceeds supporting Amapas Neighborhood Association and Vallarta Pride. Also Jeffrey Sanker’s White Party goes South of the Border to have a celebration edition called White Party PV.
