gay puerto vallarta

To celebrate LGBT Pride Month and commemorate the 48th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, Nestpick, a housing aggregator is identifying 100 cities with active LGBT communities. Gay Puerto Vallarta tops the list at No 37 and the only destination in Mexico ranked in the top 100.  The top 5 are Madrid, Amsterdam, Toronto, Tel Aviv, and London with Mexico City the only other Mexican destination listed coming in at No 62.

Nestpick aims to help people relocate to the cities that offer them the best possible quality of life. That’s why they considered thousands of destinations worldwide before shortlisting 100 cities, ranking them based on relevant factors to compile one of the largest rankings of its kind to date.

For a city to rank strongly as an LGBT destination, they determined the city must have a vibrant gay dating scene, a lively alternative nightlife, open minded citizens, and low levels of hate crime. They also took into account the national laws affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, such as the right to get married or adopt children. Once calculated, the final scores reveal the top 100 Best LGBT Cities for 2017.

Puerto Vallarta certainly ranks high in the nightlife scene. Our destination boats more than 25 gay bars and clubs. Let’s explore the zone and discover the features of Puerto Vallarta’s gayborhood. The daytime focal point is the gay beach in front of Blue Chairs and Mantamar Beach Club and at night shifts to the corner of Lazaro Cardenas and Ignacio Vallarta where La Noche, CC Slaughter’s and Spartacus Spa are located. The gay activities and established nightlife of Puerto Vallarta rival that of much larger international gay destinations. The LGBT community certainly set the tone inside the Zona Romantica. Many businesses display and fly the rainbow flag and the annual Vallarta Pride festival is centered inside the zone. The LGBT community sets the tone via ACT LGBT business association (www.actlgbt.org) and many LGBT members of the Amapas Neighborhood Association where the gay beach is located. ACT LGBT and the neighborhood association are involved in many community improvements and initiatives. The zone houses a large cluster of gay businesses like the many gay owned hotels, restaurants, and clothing shops. Many of the LGBT community live in the zone as well.
