Puerto Vallarta A Top City For Gay Retirement In Mexico. AARP and Expedia travel compiled the top 11 cities for LGBTQ Seniors to travel and retire! Discover why they call Puerto Vallarta the LGBTQ Beach Capital of Mexico and why is was included on the list! Its gay roots date back to the 1980s when expats began building businesses in the area. Then in 2016, the state of Jalisco legalized same-sex marriage. Puerto Vallarta LGBT continues to thrive as a gay destination, becoming a favorite among tourists and retirees alike.

Weather: With almost 300 sunny days and warm tropical weather all year, no wonder it is so easy to retire to Puerto Vallarta. The weather is very similar to Hawaii being located on the same latitude. The rainy season runs from June through Mid-October, with almost no rain the rest of the year.

Play: Zona Romantica is the gay neighborhood, but join an LGBT-specific tour to find out more about the area. Stake a spot down at Playa de los Muertos and stop in one of the many gay bars when you get thirsty. There are tons of attractions in Puerto Vallarta. Every budget is accommodated from street taco stands to air-conditioned world class fine dining. There is even foodie events like Puerto Vallarta Restaurant Week and the International Festival Gourmet.

Arts and Culture: Mexico is rich in culture and heritage. You can be very sophisticated in Mexico with all the arts and culture you will find. Most people only think of Mexico for its beautiful beaches. However, Mexico is influenced by the ancient Aztec and Maya civilizations as well as European colonization. After you really investigate and experience it, it is unique and probably one of the most fascinating cultures in the world.
