What to do in Summer in Puerto Vallarta Mexico

When guests arrive to Puerto Vallarta in summer they usually want to spend the first couple days acclimating since the humidity climbs, usually beginning in May. The rise in temp gives one the understanding of why the siesta was created; midday downtime to recycle energy so one can carry on into the evening. Dinners are served later when the ocean breezes add to the wonderful ambiance of a Puerto Vallarta evening. Once they feel acclimated, most visitors are ready to take on the town (and surrounding areas.) These are three activities we highly recommend of the many facets Puerto Vallarta has to offer.

Fishing Though the grand sailfish tournament takes place in November, the marlin and tuna challenges are in July, which is a great time to visit Puerto Vallarta; there are less people plus tour packages, hotels and amenities are guaranteed to be cheaper. Charters on well equipped fishing boats are available for these events, but we also recommend the smaller pangas. Sport fishing has long been a big deal in Puerto Vallarta and locals who contribute generations of experience and knowledge can give you a fabulous adventure. Besides the choice of joining a group on a vessel, there is always the option of waiting on shore for results to come in. The excitement of watching catches being weighed and measured; the jubilation of the contestants, and the fun atmosphere are what we love.

Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens (Jardines Botánicos de Vallarta) It seems every time we head out to the Gardens there’s a new addition. In summer months a lot of changes take place, some small and others very noticeable. Structures are added and planting takes place during low season, but it doesn’t prohibit guests from visiting this grand attraction of Puerto Vallarta. The orchids have their own dedicated house; it’s an educational experience in itself. The restaurant is a perfect venue for lunch in the summer, with its upper level breezy setting. Bring your swimsuit; the river is a short hike down the hill and the crystal water is marvelous, with a shallow pool to dip in and swirl around. We make this an all day trip and it’s suitable for all ages.

Zipline. Why do zipline in the summer? It will be less crowded, you’ll have less likelihood of standing in lines, traffic to get there will be quicker and less congested and the terrain will be lush and gorgeous. Lower rates for low season at ziplines are a factor for going this time of year, as well. We recall the construction of the first zipline in Puerto Vallarta and now there are nearly a dozen. The competition is good, allowing them all to make themselves the most excellent. Websites that review these attractions are the best way to choose and they are located from south of Mismaloya to north of Sayulita.

Que es cómo es.
