Covid Test puerto vallarta

Where To Get COVID-19 Test In Puerto Vallarta? The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an order Tuesday expanding coronavirus testing requirements for nearly all international air travelers starting Jan. 26. The new rules will require all U.S.-bound passengers age 2 and over to get negative COVID-19 test results within three calendar days before their flight to the U.S. departs and provide written documentation of their laboratory test results or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19. Air passengers are required to get a viral test (a test for current infection) within the 3 days before their flight to the U.S. departs, and provide written documentation of their laboratory test result (paper or electronic copy) to the airline or provide documentation of having recovered from COVID-19.

Where can I get tested when I visit Hotel Mercurio?

Hotel Mercurio has partnered with a reputable licensed local laboratory for COVID-19 testing available at our hotel, at prices that are very competitive with these services available at private labs, clinics, and hospitals. Current pricing (subject to change) is $1500 pesos (about $80 USD) for the rapid test, and $4,000 pesos (about $215 USD) for the NAAT / PCR test. Results for the more rapid antigen test can be provided in about 3 hours, and the NAAT / PCR test (required for Canadians returning) will be provided between 24 – 48 hours. For the rapid antigen test, we recommend scheduling your test at the hotel the day prior to your departure. For the NAAT / PCR test, you should schedule your test 2 to 3 days prior to departure. The test must be done no more than 3 days prior to your flight. Your test results can be sent to your Whatsapp app on your cell phone. If you don’t use Whatsapp on your mobile device, or your mobile device does not function outside the US/Canada, we have a cell phone at our reception desk (+52) 322-105-8669. We can receive your results and print a copy for you. You will need either the digital image of the test result on your phone, or a paper copy, in order to board your flight home.
Is it safe to visit Puerto Vallarta?
All of us in Puerto Vallarta are very concerned that testing requirements may persuade many tourists to cancel or delay travel plans. We hope that will not be the case as the tourism-dependent economy (and our own financial position at Hotel Mercurio) continue to be in a deep and sustained state of crisis. At Hotel Mercurio, we believe strongly that by following the protocols we all know by now, visiting Puerto Vallarta can be as safe as being in nearly any other city (likely including your own).

Management and staff at Hotel Mercurio have undertaken strict, well-considered and documented steps to exceed required cleaning and hygiene protocols throughout the hotel property. We’ve literally attempted to “think like a virus” to imagine all the surfaces where a virus might like to hang out. Staff are required to maintain a record of all cleaning, much of which is done every 2 hours. We suspended our famous (and always packed) Sunday pool party, “Beers Boys & Burgers” last March and will not resume until we, and the public health scientists we trust, say it’s safe to party again. Our occupancy in our pool / bar/ restaurant area is limited to ensure safe distancing. And our rooms aren’t just wiped clean with sanitizer, we actually fog rooms after each check-out with an aerosol sanitizer. Of course, masks, hand sanitizer and temperature check is required for every individual entering the property.
Feel free to email us at reservations@hotel-mercurio.com for any COVID-19 testing questions you may have, and to plan your next visit to Puerto Vallarta. If you are ready to travel (and we all have our own comfort level), you’ll find that our rates have NEVER been this low! Despite the low rates, we still offer all the benefits and extras you’ve always enjoyed. The amazing breakfast (and now Drag Brunch on Sundays with mimosas and bloody marys!); the welcome drink and the tray of house-made chocolates on arrival; the free laundry service; the daily maid service; the new and even better sandwich and snack menu; Jorge’s amazing cocktails; the caring and attentive staff… it’s all still here, only missing YOU!

The Puerto Vallarta airport will have temporary laboratories for the application of covid-19 detection tests starting January 25, 2021. By order of the CDC, all passengers must undergo a COVID-19 detection test within 72 hours prior to boarding their flight to the United States and carry the results in an electronic device or paper to present to the airline prior to travel. The cost of the Antigen test will be $ 450 pesos and the PCR of $ 1,450 pesos, both prices will be applicable only to passengers on international flights. GAP recommends arriving with enough time to take your flight and, if possible, carry out the documentation and the requirements to fly, as well as to take the test in the laboratories of the city.ta is the right type of test for travel.

If you are traveling abroad, you will most likely need to take a PCR Test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction test. Therefore, getting your PCR Test in Puerto Vallarta, as opposed to other types of Covid-19 tests, is important because:

  • A PRC test is the most reliable option for detecting Covid-19 infections.
  • In addition, it is considered the “Gold Standard” of coronavirus tests.
  • This test is safe, convenient, fairly simple and straightforward.
  • It usually causes no discomfort, or very little discomfort, and has no side effects after testing.

People traveling to Canada have to take a Covid-19 PCR test

Effective January 7th of 2021, all passengers five years of age or older, are required to have a negative Covid-19 test before traveling by air from another country to Canada. Accordingly, this travel requirement was announced on December 31st of 2020 by Mr. Marc Garneau, Canada´s Minister of transport. Therefore, we have summarized the most important Canadian travel and re-entry requirements:

  • “Documentation of a negative laboratory test result must be presented to the airline prior to coming to Canada”.
  • In addition, “The test must be performed using a COVID-19 molecular polymerase chain reaction (or PCR) test within 72 hours prior to boarding a flight to Canada.”

Individuals traveling to the US have to take a Covid-19 Antigen or PCR test

Taking a coronavirus PCR test before traveling to the United States is always recommended. However, please note that getting your Covid-19 test is not mandatory. Thus, you may consider getting your PCR test in Puerto Vallarta, before traveling back to the US.

Accordingly, the US government has issued the following guidelines for people traveling back to the United States:

Travel entry requirements according to the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, and CDC´s travel recommendations

  • Question: “Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? NO”.
  • Question: “Are U.S. citizens required to quarantine (upon arrival, when traveling back to the US)? NO” (unless required by a specific state law).
  • Furthermore, “For U.S. citizens who have participated in high risk activities or may have been exposed before or during a trip, the CDC encourages people to take the following precautions upon arrival to the United States:
    • Stay home as much as possible.
    • Avoid staying around people at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
    • Consider getting tested for COVID-19.”

Covid-19 testing in Puerto Vallarta; Where to get your PCR test in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit.

Although taking a PCR test sample from nose or throat is simple, processing a PCR sample requires advanced laboratory training and expertise. In addition, getting your test in a laboratory with a quick turnaround time is always useful and necessary. Consequently, choosing the right laboratory for your PCR test in Puerto Vallarta is important. Accordingly, at CMQ Hospitals we have three convenient locations in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit.
