Marriott International, recognized as an industry leader for its diversity and inclusion, is proud to show its support for the LGBTQ community in the Caribbean and Latin America. The company and its properties celebrate the movement with several unique activities in the region.

To help spread the message of pride and inclusion, Marriott International will illuminate the facades of more than 30 of its properties comprising 16 of the company’s brands throughout the Caribbean and Latin America with the colors of the rainbow. Hotels in Argentina, Aruba, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay and Uruguay come together in this impressive spectacle of support.
In addition, the properties are activating individual initiatives, from the use of emblems with the colors of the rainbow to the decoration of canutillos and thematic cocktails with the iconic colors.

“Marriott International is based on diversity and inclusion,” said Apoorva Gandhi, Vice President of Multicultural Affairs at Marriott International. “As a company we strive to welcome all individuals and accept traveling as a way to open minds, build bridges and unite people.”

The company will also host an LGBTQ Culture Day at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino to further educate its associates and guests about the importance of diversity and inclusion. Before the LGBTQ 2018 Pride Parade in Sao Paulo and Mexico City, Marriott hotels along the parade route exhibited large interactive sculptures that read #LOVE, allowing guests and attendees to decorate them with messages of love and support . This year’s activations mark the continued support of Marriott International to the LGBTQ community. Since being the first hotel chain to offer equal benefits to its employees with same-sex couples in the United States in 1999, to offer a website that offers services to the LGBTQ community, the company believes that the power of love to unite cultures , inspire discovery, and connect people, places and purposes around the world. As an example of Marriott International’s ongoing commitment, the W Hotels brand is currently launching a series of selected tour guides with the goal of becoming a resource for LGBTQ travelers around the world. Dynamic guides and daily videos from W Hotels and a creative cast of progressive personalities begin at W Mexico City, followed by Istanbul, Atlanta and Brisbane.
