Puerto Vallarta News: Flight searches increase for Sept Oct 2020. The search volume for flights to Puerto Vallarta for September and October 2020 has increased by 54% compared to searches in August 2020, according to Mabrian Technologies, a consulting firm specialized in Big Data and Travel Intelligence. In a statement releasing this data, the report indicated “This data should enable tourism recovery for the last quarter of the year. Although this data gives reason to be optimistic, it’s important to take into account the high volatility faced by the tourism sector, not only in Mexico but globally. This underlines the importance of monitoring this type of indicator in real-time, as they help to reduce uncertainty and support better decision-making in the sector.”
In the report, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos and Cancun were studied. They also considered a Security Perception Index (related to COVID-19 fear of traveling) between June and August showing high levels of confidence for the three destinations. Fluctuations in the index seem to have a direct impact on the demand for flight searches, sometimes immediately and sometimes taking a few days to appear. The widespread drop in demand around July 7th is particularly noteworthy. This coincides with the publication of data related to one of the most difficult weeks of the pandemic in Mexico, when the increase in the spread of the virus was at its worst and the country became the fifth most affected in terms of volume of cases. Specifically in Puerto Vallarta, another security fear (unrelated to COVID-19) was the kidnapping of the 20 Mexican students from Guanajuato. This event resulted in a very noticeable drop for airline searches.

Airports Council International (ACI) is pleased to announce the accreditation of PVR Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport in the ACI Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) programme. PV’s airports is managed by GAP Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, S.A.B. of C.V. GAP becomes the first airport group in the world to successfully accredit all its airports in the AHA program. ACI’s Airport Health Accreditation programm supports airports assessing the new health measures and procedures introduced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
