Madonna Looks fabulous for the Cover of Vogue Italia
Just days before her 60th birthday, Madonna has graced the cover of Vogue Italia for the magazine’s August 2018 issue.
The shoot, titled “Just One Day Out of Life,” features Madonna sporting two all-black Saint Laurent looks. Fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott snapped the photos, and Giovanni Bianco was the creative director of the shoot, but confessed that Madonna “basically did her own styling” because of course she did.
Editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia, Emanuele Farneti, noted that it was the legendary pop icon’s idea to have the shoot take place in Lisbon, where she currently lives with four of her six children. The Material Girl moved her family overseas to support her son, David, with his soccer career.
“[The feature is] the tale of a new life, her move to Portugal to help her son David play soccer—it’s incredible to think of Madonna as a soccer mom,” Farneti said. “She proposed the Lisbon angle and it turned out to be a very personal interview, more interesting than doing a retrospective of the artist or a story on her African projects, which have already been explored.”
