Gay Cabaret In Puerto Vallarta Hedda Lettuce Tossed Salad at Act 2 marched into the stage and declared herself “The Queen of Green”. She is a vision of layered green upon green upon green, thanks to designer José Luis. “I’m a green piñata.” All persons gathered were honored by the appearance of Hedda Lettuce, starting her fifth season here. She talked and sang about her family, including Romaine, Shredded Lettuce, Iceberg, Bok Choy [an adopted Asian child], the challenged Cole Slaw and Curly Leaf, among others. She lamented the current internet dating games saying “I don’t speak emoji.” When it comes to a man making love to her, roaming hands are great but she demands “Don’t touch my hair.” That led her into a lowdown “Drag Queen Blues.”

She cries “Boundaries. I do not understand them.” A marker of all of her shows is that she chats with audience members, “because I like people”, and picks up on one or two words and turns it into a laugh-fest using her quick wit leading to flows of nonstop words. One man was from Australia and for the next five minutes, she talks all about his country, poking fun at everything from dingoes [one of them ate my child!] to their language which is far from English. Everything heard is all for fun, no harm done, but try to keep up with her rapid-fire trains of thoughts and jokes.

With Lettuce in her name, how could she be anything but fresh, crisp and light? Stand back, she has an infectious charm from which no one can be spared. She refuses to hike up the two steep flights of steps to Act II’s theater so she uses a wheel and a bucket with a pulley to gracefully be pulled up to her room. Considering her high heels, that is a wise decision. “I may have no talent but I’m a big star!” She floats from streams of comedy into a song: “Does the carpet match the drapes?” Pertaining to Hedda, we all know the answer. Hedda composes all her songs and each one has a specific characteristic and is well-written. A simply hilarious tune followed: “You only text me when you’re drunk” but in the end, she sings “Come on over.” “I am legs and face and a party in the middle.” Fluffing her green coverings of clothing, she states “It costs a lot of money to look this good.”

The ending of this laugh romp was nearing so she declared, “When you tip a drag queen, you go to Heaven.” People ventured to her bucket and dropped in peso notes. But finally, she pleaded, “Jesus take the wheel ’cause I’m too drunk to drive.”
