Mama Tits I’m Back Bi**tches Act 2 Entertainment opened November 4th to a sold out audience! Our fabulous lady is back for her fifth season. Mama has a reputation for packing every show night after night and for good reason. She combines humor, irony, current affairs, song and a bit of dance into a surefire professional performance comparable to experiences at top venues worldwide. But she chooses our community as her resident performance venue for a large portion of her life. A raw and witty take on life, sex, relationships and living your truth.

Known for her splashy in-command entrances, she struts in bedazzling the audience literally with a stunning handsewn gown of lack and inlaid silver beadwork by José Luis. Fittingly, she sang “Whatever Mama Wants [Mama Gets]”. She took charge of the evening and everyone present knew it.  She slid into a soft sensual “Black Velvet”, then picked it up into a sensual sway. Eyes were glued on her and her new addition, backup singer Diego Guerrero Morales, a young sweet man with an ability to compliment Mama’s voice. Mama said she added him “Because I always wanted to be like a Madonna.” Diego had previously appeared here in “Avenue Q” and will reprise his role in a week.

While waiting for the curtain time, the Encore Lounge featured La Boquita, a husband and wife team on guitar and conga singing Latin and English songs delightfully. They have performed throughout the Bahía de Banderas area for a number of years. Mama dipped into an old Rob McKuen standard “If You Go Away” displaying her powerful and expressive voice. The room is pin-drop silent when she vocalizes. Down-to-the-ground blues were shown with Miss Celie’s Blues” [“Sister, I’m keeping my eyes on you”] from “The Color Purple”. Mama’s versatility shines in her setlist choices, all of which tie into the story she is relating growing through childhood and being rejected and scorned. She came to believe the hateful words tossed at her and felt she was the one to blame for being different and not conforming to the rules of society.

Mama weaves her soulful live vocals with her stories and comedy into one big joyride of a show with a strong message of love and acceptance. She points out even if a person is not like everyone else, it does not make them sick and bad. She grew to rejoice in her different lifestyle and relish it, wearing her badges proudly. R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” took on new meaning tonight: “That’s me in the corner, trying to keep up with you.”As Mama was reaching her adulthood, a gay man said to her “You are not wrong. They just aren’t ready for you.” That changed her life and she then walked tall and confidently. Her life story vignettes apply to millions as they try to find their way in life. The story flowed with “I Want To Break Free” from Queen.

For the first time, attendees witnessed costume changes by undoing the top layer exposing a new dress. Each one was stupendous. The emotions of her life journey came to a head with a jazzy, bluesy “Cry Me A River”. Her voice glided over the musical notes in grand style.

Summing up this musical observation of her young life, Mama declared the hope that everyone would seek self-love and self-understanding. What a message. She ended the exploratory passage with “Glory of Love”. Love is the answer. Then she declared boldly the success of her long struggle with “I’m Still Standing” and she will stand here, there and everywhere for a long, long time.
The show is written and designed by Brian Peters aka Mama Tits
