Sutton Lee Seymour Stocking Stuffer The Palm Cabaret and Bar New York City’s live-singing queen of stage and screen has returned with two shows, the first being her Holiday Cabaret extravaganza to raise everyone into the spirit. She has stuffed the stockings with presents for all, greeting the crowd with delight terming it The Stalker Patrol. Elton John’s little known gem “Step into Christmas [With Me]” emblazoned the fires of the Holidays from the glowing embers in the fireplace. She sought from above to “Bless The Dress” which was a terrifically designed mixture of red, green and white with a wide skirt. She was not sure if it was Christmas or the Mexican flag.

New to The Palm Cabaret is Moelle and the lead singer and one guitarist took the stage previewing their show with her singing “La Vie En Rose”.

Although not a Holiday song, she said it is heard widely at this time of the year, from Julie Andrews “My Favorite Things. She dived into a medley of famous divas, some not singers,
performing “Santa Baby” including Joan Crawford, Carol Channing and Eartha Kitt, but her take on Cher is not up to her standards. For gays, Judy at Carnegie Hall album by Judy Garland was the Holiday treat and Sutton Lee gave the listeners “Get Happy”, “The Trolley Song” and “The Man That Got Away”. She asked the crowd which Judy song was missing and of course, it was “Over The Rainbow”. All in the Holiday Spirit.

She wished to showcase her choreography but she said the audience must use their imagination. Splits went halfway down, kicks as high as her shins, much hand-waving and more. Some people may have felt it was the best dancing ever. Sutton Lee has certainly stuffed the stockings with mistletoe hanging overhead. Four men were pulled from the rows to the stage and they performed a humorous lip sync of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”. Jovial as Santa.

Sutton Lee chatted about two famous musical films both written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman and then sang from the landmark “Little Shop of Horrors”: “Somewhere That’s Green” with a mashup of “Part of Your World” from “The Little Mermaid”. At long last, Sutton Lee sang her namesake “Suddenly Seymour” from the former play and the crowd burst into a near-frenzy in their joy but also regret that the evening was coming to a fabulous end. The Holidays will never be the same.

Then our lady presented a medley of her favorite Holiday tunes but she had rewritten some of the lyrics bringing laughter from the people in attendance. She wished everyone to “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas” or “Feliz Navidad” since this is Mexico. For her Jewish friends, Barbra Streisand was called to wish Happy Hanukkah by rocking through a fun “Jingle Bells”.

Encore? Do I hear Encore? Sutton Lee described the moral of her story tonight in the song “As We Stumble Along”: “Hope a bluebird will sing his song as we stumble, bumble, fumble along”.
