Puerto Vallarta has many great LGBT accommodations. It is important to note that most of Puerto Vallarta’s gay accommodations consist of a few smaller luxury boutique hotels and B&B’s. Most of the rest of LGBT accommodations consist of luxury villas and condo rentals concentrated through out the romantic zone. First, choose something located in the gayborhood Zona Romantica. Blue Chairs Hotel Malecon y Almendro #4 The world famous blue chairs hotel was responsible for putting Gay Puerto Vallarta on google searches worldwide! This iconic hotel was ground zero as the gay beach in Puerto Vallarta. Although the beach in front of the hotel is small, it is known worldwide and responsible for many gay tourists visiting Puerto Vallarta. In the late 1990’s the rooftop of blue chairs featured The Dirty Bitches drag show and sunset go go boys dancing on the rooftop that continues reformatted even today. During the day you will find all the LGBT tourists who are in Puerto Vallarta socializing and sunbathing in front of the hotel. Eventually the crowds increased and spilled over into the next door Green Chairs Ritmos Beach Club. Recently, the property began a remodel that added more rooms in an adjacent tower, new upper level rooftop and dipping pool, and Miss Butterfly Cabaret.
Almar Resort Luxury LGBT Hotel Amapas 380 Hotel Club Meza Del Mar was closed by its owners and underwent a total remodel and reconstruction. It was reopened and renamed Almar Resort in 2012 and began targeting the LGBT community. This adults only luxury property quickly became the popular favorite stay for LGBT travelers as Mantamar its beachclub became the location of popular gay beach and circuit parties. Almar Resort was new and luxurious and began competing for the name to claim for being ground zero as the gay beach in Puerto Vallarta. Almar Resort originally had 82 luxury ocean front suites with more under construction. The beds are dressed in deluxe cotton sheets and plush goose feather pillows. The bathrooms are equipped with premium rainfall shower heads, L’Occitane toiletries and soft fluffy microfiber towels.
Casa Cupula Luxury Gay Hotel Callejon De La Igualdad #129. The most luxurious and famous gay boutique hotel in Puerto Vallarta is Casa Cupula LGBT Luxury Hotel Established in 2002, this hotel has been recognized worldwide as a leader of gay hotels in Puerto Vallarta. Casa Cupula features 19 suites and adds everything one could need to have a relaxing vacation in uncompromising comfort – including its Bistro Teresa Restaurant, a luxury gym and spa, and a very popular clothing-optional pool party.
Hotel Mercurio Francisca Rodríguez #168 is a 28 room gay hotel with an excellent reputation as a local owned good value hotel. The hotel was established in 2002 and is popular for its friendly staff, great breakfast, and courtyard pool/bar pool parties “Beers Boys and Burgers.” The hotel offers a Bed & Breakfast atmosphere and the warm Mexican service that competes with more expensive hotels. The rooms are comfortable and clean with an overnight guest policy showing a real understanding of the market it is serving.
Pinata PV Gay Hotel Venustiano Carranza #322 is a Men Only Gay Hotel conveniently located in the heart of the Zona Romantica. The owners Ronnie and David have created a most unique Mexican vibe bed and breakfast with a very community oriented spirit unlike any other B&B in Puerto Vallarta . Piñata PV is about creating a true Mexican vacation experience, ensuring safety and comfort, and providing an exclusive all male vacation experience for the male traveler They are well known for the Saturday men only social parties, a very popular sexy pool party and hosted the first Justfor.Fans party in Puerto Vallarta in 2019. When the community needs a business you will always find Pinata PV Hotel overwhelming supportive. They are huge supporters of charitable organizations like SETAC, the Puerto Vallarta LGBT community center, the Halloween haunted house where hundreds of local kids line up for candy and a walk through the superbly decorated property, and various other local food drives.
Some other notable Gay accommodations are Villa David (pictured above) Calle Galeana #348 in centro. Opened in May 1998 this gay bed and breakfast is one of Puerto Vallarta’s oldest gay operating accommodations. This exclusive property features a gorgeous courtyard and swimming pool, a jacuzzi deck and lounge, a cozy living room complete with library and movies, and a beautiful rooftop tanning deck overlooking the sweeping views of Vallarta, and the great Pacific Ocean. As of May 2020, they will only be open seasonally, from mid November until April each year, exclusively to returning guests.
Boana Torre Malibu Puerto Vallarta’s largest “straight-friendly” condo-hotel. Torre Malibu is located one block directly behind the world famous blue chairs hotel on the beach Playa Los Muertos. They are just a short, safe walk at to all the great restaurants and gay nightlife of Zona Romantica. All units have one bedroom, two baths, a kitchen, living room with double sofa-bed (real mattress) and balcony.
Puerto Vallarta also has gay friendly hotels located in the Zona Romantica worth checking out. Hotel Hacienda de Vallarta Pilitas, formerly the Vallarta Cora hotel, an iconic Puerto Vallarta gay hotel for 20 years that closed in 2016. Vallarta Cora was the location of Puerto Vallarta’s first and for many years only gay bathhouse. The property underwent an extensive remodel after being closed and reopened in 2019 under new management. Hacienda de Vallarta Pilitas is very gay friendly but not clothing optional as the former Vallarta Cora. The original bathhouse is Puerto Vallarta was Vallarta Cora Hotel Pilitas #156 closed in 2016. For 20 years (1996-2016) the Cora and its owner Mario served as PV’s one and only bathhouse as men only and one of PV’s first clothing optional pool areas. It was a small Mexican style hotel located 1 block from the gay beach so it was very popular for all kinds of fun on the way to and from Blue Chairs. The center courtyard pool was packed from early afternoon until evening with locals and tourists enjoying the hot tub, video room and dark play room. The large jacuzzi in the back was next to a fun hallway of showers. There is an upper deck for sunbathing (etc.) and a backroom maze area. This part of Puerto Vallarta’s original gay history is gone but not forgotten.
