Puerto Vallarta begins gradual reopening after Corona Virus. The governor of Jalisco where PV is located announced Jalisco entered Phase 0 of its Covid-19 recovery plan on May 18, 2020. This initial phase will last 15 days and allows for the gradual return of some economic activities. See the restaurants already open for inside dining with limited capacity here. Also some hotels are currently accepting reservations or have announced they are accepting reservations starting June 1, 2020. Note that some hotel common areas including the pool could be closed. Cleaning and sanitizing measures are being put in place at the Airport, the cruise port, on public transportation, supermarkets and more. Some airlines have announced resuming flights to Puerto Vallarta. Southwest plans to resume service from Phoenix International to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on October 8, 2020. Public beaches are high on the list for popular travel locations after the corona virus pandemic. Since Puerto Vallarta is Mexico’s number 1 gay beach destination, the demand to return to Puerto Vallarta’s gay beach is expected to be great. On May 19,2020 the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) extended non-essential travel restrictions at U.S. land borders with Mexico and Canada through June 22, 2020. Please note that this non-essential travel restriction does not include air travel to and from Mexico.
On May 25, 2020 Puerto Vallarta Mayor Arturo Davalos announed that portions of the PV Malecon from Octubre 31 street to El Faro The Lighthouse would be open from 8am to 10 pm..for clients of pharmacies, restaurants, and banks only in this area. This would include disinfection and security protocols.
