Profile
Colorful, old-style restaurant, operated by owner Lola Bravo and waiter Cuco López García, features indigenous recipes and traditional sauces rarely available in Puerto Vallarta. Step back in time surrounded by artwork immortalizing Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Golden-Age Hollywood stars while you peruse their unique menu. You may become further distracted by the hand-painted tables with placemats containing all sorts of clever information but do your best! For appetizers, don’t miss the cream of peanut or tortilla soup and be certain to share guacamole and panela cheese with chile de tenir [ancho] sauce. All the entrees are good—try a Mexican plate sampler; chiles en nogada or rellenos; pork with garlic ancho, orange pork loin; shrimp Giovanni; or Puebla chicken mole. Reservations recommended. A/C. No smoking in this intimate space. Ask about their cookbook, DVD, and classes by chef María de Jesús Casillas. No CC.
