Puerto Vallarta Safety Perception Increases

PV Safety Perception Increases. Puerto Vallarta is the fifth safest city in Mexico based on perception of residents according to INEGI, The National Institute of Statistics and Geography. In the third quarter of 2024, INEGI released the results of a study, the National Urban Public Security Survey (ENSU) listing the cities and public spaces where residents feel the most unsafe.

Puerto Vallarta had a considerable improvement in safety perception according to the survey, which placed Puerto Vallarta as being the 5th most perceived safest cities in Mexico. Previously Puerto Vallarta was in the 13th place.

The objective of the ENSU is to generate information about the social perception of public safety in each city. The survey is nationally representative and focuses on 91 urban areas. In addition, it generates information for public policy decision-making in matters of security.

  1. 67.3% feel unsafe at ATMs located on public roads
  2. 61.8% feel unsafe on public transportation
  3. 53.0% feel unsafe on the highway
  4. and 51.3% feel unsafe on the streets they usually use and at the bank.
