VGCC Official Statement April 21 2025. This is an Official Statement from the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center April 21, 2025
At the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center, we strongly condemn any act of violence against members of the LGBTQ+ community and the general public. We are deeply saddened by the incident involving Venus, winner of Canada’s Drag Race. Since learning of the event, we have reached out and offered our full support.
We have been in touch with Venus and have been assured that she does not require medical attention or assistance with a legal complaint at this time. We are here for her—and for any member of our community in need. In response to this incident, we are scheduling a meeting with nightlife venue owners to coordinate proactive safety measures for LGBTQ+ visitors and residents. We are also meeting with local police authorities tomorrow to explore further actions and reinforce our collaboration.
As part of our ongoing commitment to safety in the VGCC Official Statement April 21 2025, we are developing Safe Zone, a community-led initiative that will outline clear protocols for reporting violence or discrimination and o#er direct support in navigating the process with authorities.
Puerto Vallarta remains one of the safest tourist destinations in Mexico, consistently rated as such by numerous travel websites and international visitors. It is a city of inclusion, pride, and unity—and together, we will continue working to ensure it remains a safe and welcoming space for all.
