Puerto Vallarta Is Open And Survives Hurricane Lidia

Hurricane Lidia made landfall near Las Penitas, south of Puerto Vallarta October 10, 2023 as a major Category 4 storm. Puerto Vallarta experienced heavy wind gusts for approximately 1 hour from 7pm to 8pm that evening. This resulted in widespread power outages, downed trees and power lines, and superficial damage to many businesses and residences in Puerto Vallarta. The severity of damage increased as you travel south along Highway 200 toward Mismaloya and Boca De Tomatlan. There are major rock landslides on Hwy 200 toward Boca De Tomatlan.  The next day unexpected heavy rainfall led to localized flooding not in the Romantic zone gay area. Clean up of the downed trees and power lines began immediately with many businesses reopening the next day.

Puerto Vallarta is fully open and continues the cleanup and restoration of power. Most businesses in the romantic zone are open  but continue to experience infrequent loss of power and internet.  Check with your individual location if you are planning to arrive to PV in the next week or so regarding any power, water or internet issues.  A huge thank you to all the city officials and volunteers who assisted with the clean up efforts.

Here are some specific information from individual businesses or events.

Vallarta Zoo is open. They report thankfully all the animals are all safe. The Zoo suffered only minor physical damage, mainly requiring a lot of cleanup from tree branches and leaves.

ThrIVe PV is offering their REAL highspeed internet free for anyone who needs REAL connection.
