2025 Puerto Vallarta Tourism Report is a Data-driven strategy for sustainable growth and collaboration needed for the city’s future. The report, led by Councilwoman Melissa Madero, head of the Tourism Services and Visitor Attention Commission, was unveiled April 7, 2025 at the University Center of the Coast (CUCosta), marking a pivotal moment for Puerto Vallarta’s tourism industry.

Purpose

The 2025 Puerto Vallarta Tourism report was designed to offer a comprehensive analysis of the region’s tourism trends, strengths, and challenges. It represents a forward-thinking approach to tourism management, grounded in data analysis and strategic vision.

With a key focus on sustainability, the 2025 Puerto Vallarta Tourism Report aims to create a roadmap for Puerto Vallarta’s tourism sector that promotes long-term growth while addressing current and future challenges. Madero highlighted the inclusive nature of the initiative, stressing it is not just a diagnostic tool but a collaborative framework for everyone to be involved in addressing the challenges Puerto Vallarta faces in tourism.

Key Findings

84% of Puerto Vallarta’s municipal GDP is tied to tourism making it the backbone of the local economy.

Puerto Vallarta’s leadership in the number of cruise ship arrivals in 2024

Puerto Vallarta average hotel occupancy rate of 73.8%,

Major Infrastructure Improvements

2025 Puerto Vallarta tourism report lists the Las Juntas Road Junction, the Amado Nervo Federation Bridge, and the expansion of Puerto Vallarta’s airport. The total investment in these infrastructure projects exceeds 7 billion pesos. The expansion of the airport is crucial for accommodating increasing numbers of international visitors, especially as Puerto Vallarta continues to attract more cruise arrivals and long-haul travelers.

Other infrastructure improvements include the State of Jalisco constructing a new pier named “Las Peñas” off the street Republic De Chile in centro Puerto Vallarta near Ley’s supermarket. That location is here. 

Puerto Vallarta also announced the purchase of 38 new electric buses for public transportation in Puerto Vallarta. They are expected to be operating by the end of 2025.
