Mexico expects 1.8 Million US LGBTQ travelers in 2024 according to the inclusive tourism solutions company DT Latina. This would be a 10% increase from 2023 and represents $2 billion USD economic value. This is a sign that Mexico is becoming one of the top gay travel destinations. What are the top reasons for this

  • The legalization of gay marriage. Same sex marriage rights starting becoming legal in some Mexico states in 2015 and was finalized in 2022.
  • The growing openness and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community in Mexican society.
  • The wide range of destinations and events and activities targeting the LGBTQ+ community.

According to the company Mexico occupies 4 of the top 10 favorite gay cities in the US and Latin America led by Puerto Vallarta and includes Cancun, Mexico City and Guadalajara.
