Puerto Vallarta’s gay boat tours take guests out on Banderas Bay to secluded beaches, many of them reachable only by boat. Some are party boats with go-go dancers. Others are quiet beach days, and one is a men-only naked beach tour. A few appear only during Bear Week, Pride and the holidays.

What is a beach party? On this page, a beach party is a scheduled event on a beach that you reach by boat, with a DJ, music or an open bar. A beach club is different: it is a permanent venue that is open on regular days, and some beach parties take place at one. Beach clubs you can reach by road are in the Beach Club Directory, and parties around a pool are on our pool parties page.

This guide compares the weekly tours, helps you choose between them, covers the beach parties you reach by boat, shows what each tour includes, then covers boarding, the special-event cruises by event week, the cruises that have closed, and the history of gay boat excursions in Puerto Vallarta. For beaches and hotels that are clothing optional, see the Clothing-Optional guide. For the whole destination, start with the Puerto Vallarta Gay Guide.

GAYPV is a travel-planning resource, not a tour operator. The weekly tours compared below are not GAYPV advertisers, and GAYPV does not rate or rank them. The details come from each operator’s own website, so confirm them with the operator before you book. Any advertiser content on this page is labeled as an advertisement.

What to Bring on a Gay Boat Tour

As always in Puerto Vallarta, it is customary and encouraged to tip the performers, dancers and singers and very much appreciated and a good way to give to the local community.

Special-Event Gay Boat Cruises by Event Week

Around Bear Week, the Pride weeks and the holidays, Puerto Vallarta adds gay boat cruises that do not run the rest of the year. Dates and prices change every year, so GAYPV lists what to look for and sends you to each organizer for the current details.

Event Week Time of Year Boat Cruises to Look For
Bear Week Late January Beef Dip Booze Cruise; Bearadise Beach; Bearadise Love Boat; occasional bear boats
Vallarta Pride Late May, the week before U.S. Memorial Day Pride sunset cruise; Pride tea dance boat party
Bear Pride Spring Bearadise Beach
Bearsgiving Thanksgiving weekend Bearadise Love Boat; possibly Bearadise Beach
New Year’s New Year’s Eve and the days around it Special departures from the weekly operators, when offered

Bear Week Boat Cruises

Beef Dip Booze Cruise. Steve Buczek, who organizes Beef Dip Bear Week, runs a booze cruise for men only, 18+. It is not a clothing-optional cruise. Beef Dip includes it with its full pass or sells it separately, and its sales are final. Beef Dip says guests are taken out to the larger boats in small pangas, so you may be separated from your friends when boarding.

Bearadise Beach. Bearadise describes this as a men-only, clothing-optional boat party at a private cove reachable only by boat. It boards at Los Muertos Pier, and Bearadise says it recurs at its flagship festivals.

Bearadise Love Boat. Bearadise describes the Love Boat as a catamaran cruise for men only, 18+, with clothing optional inside the boat.

Occasional bear boats. Ulises Mata, of Bears Cruising PV, organizes bear boats from time to time. He does not run them on a fixed schedule, so check his Instagram for current plans.

Vallarta Pride Boat Cruises

Vallarta Pride falls in late May, the week before U.S. Memorial Day. The Bay of Pigs PV Tea Dance is an exclusive men-only boat party during Vallarta Pride. Disclosure: GAYPV consults for STUDS, a client. Jet’s Naked Beach ran the official Vallarta Pride sunset catamaran cruise in 2022 and 2023. Check Jet’s events page to see whether it is part of the current Pride lineup.

Bear Pride Boat Cruises

Bearadise Beach runs during Bear Pride in spring. Bearadise announces the exact date for each year on its own site.

Bearsgiving Boat Cruises

Bearsgiving is a Bearadise festival held over Thanksgiving weekend. Its boat cruise is the Bearadise Love Boat. Because Bearadise says Bearadise Beach recurs at every flagship festival, check the Bearsgiving page for a Beach departure too.

New Year’s Gay Boat Cruises

Any of the weekly operators (PV Delice, Diana’s, Jet’s and Tamale’s) may offer a special New Year’s departure. Look at each operator’s own site early, because holiday departures are announced separately from the weekly schedule.

Gay Boat Cruise History in Puerto Vallarta

Gay boat excursions have sailed from Puerto Vallarta since the 1990s. Today four operators run weekly tours, and extra cruises appear around Bear Week, Pride and the holidays.

Long before today’s weekly party boats, Paco Ruiz’s Paco’s Paradise offered one of Puerto Vallarta’s earliest gay boat excursions. Ruiz, who arrived in Puerto Vallarta in 1989 and founded the Paco Paco bar, ran trips to a private, clothing-optional beach and bed-and-breakfast in a cove south of town, reachable only by sea, where day visitors came for fresh fish, drinks and sun. Diana, whose own gay boat tour has sailed since 1999, confirms the cove is the one now known as Majahuitas.

Since then, a handful of operators have defined the scene. This table covers the cruises that built it, including the ones that have closed.

Cruise Years Organizer What It Was Status
Wet n Wild (PV Sunset Party Cruise) 2014 to 2025 Edgar Hernandez Weekly gay party cruise every Saturday, with an extra Wednesday in high season; the first regular weekly gay boat tour with go-go boys as hosts Closed
Diana’s Boat Tours Since 1999 Diana Decoste, now with Kim Ebert Day cruise from Los Muertos Pier Operating
Jet’s Naked Beach Since 2018 Jet de la Isla Men-only, clothing-optional beach tour Operating

Wet n Wild (Wet and Wild Gay Cruise, PV Sunset Party Cruise), Closed

Wet n Wild, also written Wet and Wild and known as PV Sunset Party Cruise, was a weekly gay party cruise organized by Edgar Hernandez. It sailed every Saturday from 2014 to 2025, with an extra Wednesday departure in high season. It was the first regular weekly gay boat tour in Puerto Vallarta to feature go-go boys as hosts, who were known as the “lotion boys.” The cruise has closed. If you are looking for a party boat with go-go dancers today, see what each tour includes above.

Diana’s Boat Tours

Diana’s Boat Tours has sailed since 1999 and is the longest-running gay boat tour on this page. GAYPV marked its 25th year with Diana’s Boat Tours Celebrating 25 Years.

Frequently Asked Questions About Gay Boat Tours in Puerto Vallarta

Is there a naked boat tour in Puerto Vallarta, and do I have to be naked?

Yes, there is a naked boat tour, and no, you do not have to be naked. Jet’s Naked Beach runs men-only, clothing-optional boat tours to secluded beaches that can only be reached by sea. Jet’s says nudity is encouraged but guests can undress as much as they like, and that there are no officially designated nude beaches in Puerto Vallarta, so its guides choose the beach each day. PV Delice also lists its tour as clothing optional, Diana’s uses traditional beach attire, and Tamale’s does not state a clothing policy. For beaches and hotels that are clothing optional, see the Clothing-Optional guide.

Is there a gay beach party in Puerto Vallarta?

Yes. Gay beach parties in Puerto Vallarta are reached by boat. PV Delice and Jet’s both include a beach party on their weekly tours, and Bearadise runs Bearadise Beach and the Love Boat during Bear Week, Bear Pride and Bearsgiving. See Gay Beach Parties by Boat above for how to get to each one. For beach clubs you can reach by road, use the Beach Club Directory.

Which gay boat tour in Puerto Vallarta has go-go dancers?

PV Delice is the weekly gay boat tour hosted by go-go boys. Diana’s, Jet’s weekly tour and Tamale’s do not feature go-go dancers. Wet n Wild, which has closed, was the first regular weekly gay boat tour with go-go boys as hosts.

Who can go on a gay boat tour?

All four weekly tours are 18+. Jet’s group tours are men only, and Jet’s says they include trans men. The Bearadise and Beef Dip cruises are also men only. Tamale’s says it welcomes gay travelers, locals, allies and the entire queer community, and it and Bearadise both say you can come on your own. Jet’s also lists private tours for men and women 18+ on its own site. Diana’s and PV Delice list 18+ on their sites and do not state a gender restriction.

Is there a gay booze cruise in Puerto Vallarta?

Yes. The Beef Dip Booze Cruise is organized by Steve Buczek, who also organizes Bear Week through Beef Dip. It runs during Bear Week in late January and is for men only, 18+. Beef Dip says booze and snacks aboard and a lunch at a beach restaurant are included, that the cruise is included with its full pass or sold as a stand-alone ticket, and that all sales are final. The Beef Dip cruise is not clothing optional. If you are looking for a clothing-optional boat instead, see Jet’s Naked Beach and PV Delice in the comparison table above.

Can I charter a private gay boat in Puerto Vallarta?

Tamale’s Tours says on its FAQ that it offers private charters on a variety of boats and yachts for birthdays, group trips and celebrations, and Jet’s lists private tours on its own site. For private yacht charters in general, see our luxury boat tours and yacht charters guide.

Are gay boat tours in Puerto Vallarta safe?

GAYPV does not inspect boats or certify operators, so ask the operator about life jackets, boat capacity and its weather policy before you book. Some tours board from small boats or pangas, so follow the crew’s instructions. Jet’s says guests should be comfortable in the water and that it provides life jackets if a short swim is needed. As in any nightlife setting, drink responsibly, never leave drinks unattended, and if you meet someone new, verify who they are and tell a trusted friend where you are and when you expect to be back. See the Staying Safe guide for more.

Can I go on a gay boat tour by myself?

These tours offer a group experience for meeting other travelers and enjoying Puerto Vallarta’s coastal scenery. Check the operator’s booking calendar for individual tickets and availability. If you are interested in a private charter or have questions about attending alone, contact the operator before booking.

What should I bring on a boat tour?

Consider bringing swimwear, sun protection, sunglasses, and a waterproof bag for personal belongings. Check what your ticket includes before packing towels or other supplies. Tamale’s lists towels and sunscreen among its inclusions, while PV Delice lists towels. Confirm any specific requirements with your operator.

How early should I arrive at Los Muertos Pier?

Follow the arrival instructions provided with your booking. Tamale’s specifically asks guests to arrive at Los Muertos Pier 30 minutes before departure. Check your confirmation for the required arrival time for the other tours, and allow enough time to find the correct boarding point.

What happens if bad weather affects a boat tour?

Weather and sea conditions can affect snorkeling, whale watching, beach stops, and other water activities. The operator determines whether a departure or activity can proceed and applies its own cancellation or rescheduling policy. Contact the operator directly if conditions are uncertain before your tour.

What are the cancellation and refund policies?

Policies differ by operator, so review the terms before paying. Diana’s requires 48 hours’ notice for future credit and does not refund same-day cancellations. Jet’s states that its standard ticket allows a full refund for cancellations at least 24 hours before departure; cancellation insurance provides additional flexibility, subject to its terms and cost. Tamale’s has separate deposit, weather-related date-change, and minimum-group provisions. Check PV Delice’s current policy directly with the operator.

Are gratuities included in the ticket price?

Do not assume that gratuities are included. Diana’s lists a suggested gratuity of MXN $500; confirm directly with the operator whether that amount applies per guest or to the booking as a whole. Check the other operators’ booking terms for their guidance on tipping.

Are these gay boat tours sunset cruises?

The four regular tours compared on this page are daytime excursions, with departures between 9:45 AM and 11:00 AM. They are not sunset cruises based on the schedules listed here. Check GAYPV’s current events and tour listings for other boat experiences if you are specifically looking for a sunset departure.

Tour schedules, inclusions, and booking terms may change. Confirm current details directly with the operator before making your reservation.
