Councilwoman gives 2025 Tourism Report. In a collaborative effort between tourist destinations, travel agencies, and business leaders in Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta Councilwoman Melissa Madero, president of the Tourism Services and Visitor Services Commission of the Government of Puerto Vallarta, presented the 2025 Tourism Intelligence Report at the Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce this Tuesday. This is a strategic tool that seeks to redefine regional tourism planning based on data, sustainability, and innovation.

Councilwoman gives 2025 Tourism Report to the Specialized Section of Travel Agencies, comprised of private sector leaders, tour operators, and institutional representatives. During her presentation, Madero shared the main findings of the report, prepared with the support of tourism observatories, universities, companies, researchers, and organizations from all three levels of government.

“This report not only measures travel behaviors; it identifies real trends, risks, and opportunities for those on the front lines of tourism. It is an invitation to make smarter, more collaborative, and long-term decisions,” the councilwoman stated in her opening address.

Councilwoman gives 2025 Tourism Report revealing

• Puerto Vallarta accounts for 56% of international tourism arriving in Jalisco by air.
• 84% of the municipal GDP is directly dependent on tourism.
• In 2024, the destination recorded an average hotel occupancy rate of 73.8%, with peaks above 85%.
• Domestic tourism represents 89% of total visitors, making it a priority market for issuing agencies in the central part of the country.

The challenges facing the Vallarta–Bahía de Banderas region were also discussed, including infrastructure saturation, informality, climate change, and the need to consolidate metropolitan tourism governance between Jalisco and Nayarit.

Councilwoman gives 2025 Tourism Report and also presents projections for 2030 including:

• Sustained growth in tourism influx, with a goal of 35 million visitors to Jalisco by 2025.
• The possibility of increasing international tourism to 18% if the Smart Tourism Destination (SDT) model is consolidated.
• An estimated 15% increase in rural and community tourism if local networks and financing mechanisms are strengthened.

Councilwoman Madero emphasized that tourism intelligence is not exclusive to the public sector: “Today more than ever, travel agencies design experiences and value-added routes. To do this successfully, they need more than intuition: they need accurate regional information, digital tools, and strategic alliances.”

At the end, the Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce presented the councilwoman with an award, highlighting this collaborative effort, as well as her initiative and the inter-institutional tourism work model she promotes. The Chamber underscored the interest of businesses in the Guadalajara metropolitan area in strengthening ties with Puerto Vallarta as a priority tourist destination in the state of Jalisco.

The event concluded with a call for cooperation between destinations, businesses, and local governments to advance toward a more resilient, competitive, and inclusive tourism industry.
