VGCC Creating Zona Safe

VGCC Creating Zona Safe. The Vallarta Gay+ Community Center, the “VGCC” in partnership with other organizations such as the local police department is initiating a new program called ‘Zona Safe’.

The purpose of VGCC creating Zona Safe is to work in partnership with local authorities to ensure that our streets and public spaces remain safe for both residents and visitors, especially during nightlife hours.

Zona Safe protocol is built on three pillars:
* Prevention through a WhatsApp group for affiliated businesses
* Presence via collaborative ‘Q Patrol’ visibility
* Reporting and follow-up through a website and coordination with police meetings

The *Vallarta Gay+ Community Center will be hosting a meeting on Monday, May 12th at 6pm for all gay and ally businesses in Zona Romantica*

(Morelos 101-Liocal 3B, Centro, 48300 Puerto Vallarta – located above Santander Bank)

During this meeting of VGCC Creating Zona Safe, our team will present the full Zona Safe program, answer any questions you may have, distribute flags and bandanas to each business interested in participating.

Mark your calendars and join us to learn more about this important initiative for our community. Feel free to invite any other business owners as we have tried to identify as many as possible but certainly our list is not all-inclusive.

VGCC Creating Zona Safe – Mission Statement*
Zona Safe is a unified initiative of the LGBT+ community in Puerto Vallarta, along with local businesses and allies, dedicated to promoting safety and support in the Zona Romántica.

Our mission is to ensure that our streets and public spaces remain safe for both residents and visitors, especially during nightlife hours. When someone from our community needs help—particularly in interactions with police or emergency services—Zona Safe aims to provide immediate support and companionship.

This program works in full cooperation with local authorities, including the police, emergency services, and municipal agencies. We are not an opposition group—we are partners in building a safer Zona Romántica for everyone.

Through visible markers like flags and bandanas, participating businesses will be easily identified as safe allies ready to assist when needed. Zona Safe focuses on physical safety, prevention of harm, and ensuring that anyone in distress can quickly find help.
