Puerto Vallarta hosts LGBTQ Business Meeting. More than 100 Puerto Vallarta LGBTQ+ business and industry leaders met August 28, 2025 to strengthen the LGBTQ business sector. This meeting is the largest LGBT+ business gathering in the history of the city. The event organized by City Councilwoman Melissa Madero, president of the Tourism Services Commission.
National Programs and Inclusive Economy
Puerto Vallarta hosts LGBTQ Business Meeting with one keynote participant being Salma Luévano, National Coordinator of the Inclusive Economy of the Ministry of Economy. She presented the guidelines of the National Program for the Inclusive Economy and the “Hecho en México / Made in Mexico” certification, a groundbreaking initiative to integrate LGBT+ entrepreneurs into national and international value chains.
Puerto Vallarta hosts LGBTQ Business Meeting and also highlighted success stories, including a presentation by Quique Galdeano, founder of Escándala, one of the largest LGBTQ+ digital platforms in Latin America.
Key Agreements Reached

Regional Collaboration
Puerto Vallarta hosts LGBTQ Business Meeting and also welcomed the participation of officials from Bahía de Banderas, including Mayor Daniela Sahagún, reinforcing collaboration across the tourism corridor. Leaders agreed that regional strategies—like improvements to the area’s main boulevard—already show positive results for tourism and commerce.
Recognition of Local Leaders
Luévano recognized the work of Puerto Vallarta’s local leaders, praising Pedro López, director of the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center, for creating spaces for training and networking. She also highlighted Alfredo Soria, director of Círculo Rojo, for his contributions to the day’s initiatives.
A Milestone for Inclusive Business in Puerto Vallarta
Organizers and participants agreed that this meeting marks a milestone in building an equitable economic environment. By linking local businesses with national programs, Puerto Vallarta is strengthening its role as a hub for LGBTQ+ tourism, commerce, and inclusive economic growth.
Councilwoman Madero emphasized that the Hecho en México certification, combined with training, financing, and government partnerships, will help protect and expand the role of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the region.
Puerto Vallarta continues to lead Mexico as a model for inclusion, showing how diversity, tourism, and business can thrive together.
