Late November is one of Puerto Vallarta’s biggest LGBTQ+ travel stretches — Mexico’s top international Thanksgiving travel destination for American visitors, according to Allianz Partners USA flight-booking data, ranking in the Global Top 3 alongside London and Punta Cana. But this week is more than a busy travel period: it’s where Puerto Vallarta’s gay nightlife scene was born, dating back to 1999. Today, two connected weeks pack the Zona Romántica — the Bear & Leather Convergence (November 19–22) followed directly by Thanksgiving Week proper (November 26–29). From circuit parties and pool events to cabaret shows and holiday dinners, here’s everything happening.

 

📖 How This Season Is Structured

No other city can claim this: Puerto Vallarta’s entire gay nightlife identity was born on this exact week. Will Gorges’ Latin Fever launched PV’s nightlife scene here in 1999. Club Mañana amplified it into a global circuit destination through the 2000s. But for its first 15 years, Puerto Vallarta had nightlife without daylife — no real beach club scene at all. That changed in 2014, when Mantamar opened and finally gave the city its first true gay beach club. One year later, White Party PV launched at that same new beach club, on that same Thanksgiving weekend — and Industry followed soon after. Everything on this page traces back to that single lineage.

The Origin (1999). Puerto Vallarta’s first destination circuit-party weekend was Latin Fever, launched by Will Gorges, Gilles Belanger, and Robert Rieduk over Thanksgiving weekend, November 25–29, 1999, based at the Tropicana on the Beach — confirmed by the original event flyer, archived from willgorges.com via the Wayback Machine. A four-party weekend — Thursday’s Thanksgiving Bash at Los Balcones, Friday’s Fiesta Mexicana at Cactus, Saturday’s “Latin Fever” Noche de Blanco, and a Sunday T-Dance closer — it introduced Puerto Vallarta to the multi-day, destination-driven circuit model already established in cities like Los Angeles, Miami, and Palm Springs. By 2000, Latin Fever had already professionalized fast: luxury villa rentals, dedicated travel-agency booking, and its own American Airlines discount code.

Expansion (2014–2020). Mantamar Beach Club opened in 2014, finally giving Puerto Vallarta a real daytime beach anchor to complement its nightlife scene. The following Thanksgiving, November 27–30, 2015, Jeffrey Sanker (White Party Palm Springs) launched White Party PV at Mantamar — in Sanker’s own words at the time, “joining forces with Latin Fever producer Will Gorges” for that inaugural weekend. The two brands collaborated on that single launch event, then continued on as separate, independent circuit parties going forward — not a merger. Industry Nightclub opened in 2018 and became White Party PV’s nightclub venue; Bearsgiving launched the same year, giving the bear community its own dedicated Thanksgiving programming. Brawny Bear Weekend followed in 2020, adding a second major bear-focused festival to the week.

A New Era (2021–Present). Jeffrey Sanker passed away in May 2021. Industry Nightclub took over ownership of the White Party PV brand in early 2022 — the same year STUDS opened, adding a dedicated bear and leather bar for the first time. Today, Industry’s Thanksgiving Festival runs as a 3–5 day event in the same format as their other major festivals, with one night still carrying the White Party name as a direct link to where it all began. STUDS added its own Leather Fever festival in 2025, now in its second year.

Not Without Setbacks. This growth wasn’t a straight line. Around 2010, Club Mañana’s owner split from Will Gorges over their partnership — a rupture widely considered one of the most damaging moments in Puerto Vallarta’s gay nightlife history. Other circuit-era venues and events haven’t lasted either: KoKo (Club Enter) eventually closed, Jubileo left the Thanksgiving circuit after a run of its own, and Arena departed after just a single event. Puerto Vallarta’s Thanksgiving scene has always been shaped as much by who stayed as by who didn’t.

Where It Stands Today. The week continues to grow — new, smaller venues keep adding their own Thanksgiving programming most years — but no major new mainstream venue has entered at the scale of Industry, Mantamar, or STUDS in some time. The five headline events on this page represent the current, stable core of a tradition that’s now run continuously for over 25 years, the birthplace of Puerto Vallarta gay nightlife itself.
