Alfredo Soria Soto Is New Head of Puerto Vallarta COMUSIDA. Puerto Vallarta City Hall has announced the appointment of Alfredo Soria Soto as the new head of the Municipal Council for the Prevention of AIDS (COMUSIDA). His leadership marks a renewed commitment to strengthening institutional coordination, citizen participation, and strategies for the prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in Puerto Vallarta.
Alfredo Soria Soto brings extensive experience in community health, operational management, and inter-institutional collaboration. An industrial engineer by profession, he has led numerous local public health initiatives with measurable impact. As general director of the Red Circle campaign—the largest community health effort ever held in Puerto Vallarta—he coordinated a single-day event that conducted over 700 rapid HIV tests, administered 400 vaccines, and involved 29 local institutions and community collectives.
In previous roles, Soria Soto participated as a member of the Inter-Agency Committee on Prevention of HIV and STIs, where he helped create linking protocols between health institutions, developed a municipal prevention micro-city, and coordinated large-scale detection and vaccination campaigns. His new leadership at COMUSIDA Puerto Vallarta represents an important step toward a more inclusive, rights-based model of community health care.
Under his guidance, COMUSIDA will focus on:
• Comprehensive HIV and STIs prevention with a gender and diversity perspective
• Effective collaboration with state and federal health institutions
• Strengthening sexual education, early detection, and community support initiatives
