Vallarta Gay Community Center Launches Syphilis Campaign
Vallarta Gay Community Center launches syphilis campaign that emphasizes awareness and prevention of syphilis. The Vallarta Gay+ Community Center is addressing the rise in syphilis infections within our community, a trend mirroring the worldwide increase in cases.
In response to this urgent public health issue, the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center is launching a comprehensive campaign aimed at raising awareness, enhancing education, and providing accessible testing and treatment services.
Key components of the campaign include:
• Free Syphilis Testing and Treatment: Starting immediately and continuing through the end of August, the Community Center will offer free syphilis tests to any community member during our regular office hours (Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM).
Free treatment will also be available to those who test positive.
• Walk-in Testing Option: To make testing more accessible, we have introduced a new walk-in option, thanks to our dedicated team.
• Educational Outreach and Materials: We will distribute print materials to raise awareness about syphilis prevention, detection & treatment.
• System-Wide Scheduling Optimization: Our enhanced scheduling system now allows us to see three times more patients during our operating hours, ensuring timely and efficient care.\
• Funding Allocation: Our board has allocated 25,000 pesos specifically to tackle this issue, supporting the costs of testing, treatment, and outreach efforts.
“It’s important to act fast so that we can put a dent in this problem immediately,” said Pedro Lopez, Executive Director of the Community Center. “While still in the early stages, our organization has grown rapidly and is now well-equipped to address urgent health issues like this. We are proud to support our community in this critical way.”
Additionally, those who come for free syphilis testing can request other tests at low, suggested donations to ensure a comprehensive review of their sexual health.

El Centro Comunitario Gay+ de Vallarta está abordando el aumento de las infecciones de sífilis en nuestra comunidad, una tendencia que refleja el incremento mundial de casos.
En respuesta a esta urgente cuestión de salud pública, el Centro Comunitario Gay+ de Vallarta está lanzando una campaña integral destinada a aumentar la concienciación, mejorar la educación y proporcionar servicios accesibles de pruebas y tratamiento.
Componentes clave de la campaña incluyen:
– Pruebas y Tratamiento Gratuito de Sífilis: A partir de ahora y hasta finales de agosto, el Centro Comunitario ofrecerá pruebas gratuitas de sífilis a cualquier miembro de la comunidad durante nuestro horario de oficina (lunes a viernes, de 10:00 AM a 6:00 PM).
También estará disponible el tratamiento gratuito para aquellos que den positivo.
– Opción de Pruebas sin Cita Previa: Para hacer que las pruebas sean más accesibles, hemos introducido una nueva opción de pruebas sin cita previa, gracias a nuestro dedicado equipo. Solo llega entre el horario de oficina.
– Divulgación Educativa y Materiales: Distribuiremos materiales impresos para aumentar la concienciación sobre la prevención, detección y tratamiento de la sífilis.
– Optimización del Sistema de Programación: Nuestro sistema de programación mejorado ahora nos permite atender a tres veces más pacientes durante nuestro horario de operación, garantizando una atención oportuna y eficiente.
– Asignación de Fondos: Nuestra junta ha asignado 25,000 pesos específicamente para abordar este problema, apoyando los costos de pruebas, tratamiento y esfuerzos de divulgación.
“Es importante actuar rápidamente para que podamos frenar este problema de inmediato,” dijo Pedro López, Director Ejecutivo del Centro Comunitario. “Aunque todavía estamos en las primeras etapas, nuestra organización ha crecido rápidamente y ahora está bien equipada para abordar cuestiones urgentes de salud como esta.
