US TWO, the Smash Hit of the summer at Act II Entertainment

“Danny and Noemi, Us Two, opened their Summer preview run last night to a very enthusiastic crowd. It, quite literally, brought the house down, when one of the giant speakers fell, narrowly missing the percussionist. Neither he, not the singers missed a beat! Their show is called New Voices, Old Beats, and it entertained us with so many of the songs we have loved for years, but with up beat styling. You have two more chances to see them. Next Saturday the 29th and again on August 12. Both at 7:30 in the Red Room. Then they come back for the season opener in November. They will totally entertain you with their music and their wit.” – JIM DAVIS

“This is a Must, Must, Must See!!!” – GARY BECK

“There is only one word that comes to my mind about Ustwo Daniel Noemi and their amazing performance last night in The Red Room Cabaret. “PHENOMENAL”!!! These two Wowed the audience with every sense of emotion. As I looked around at the audience, every head was bobbing and swaying with people singing along at the incredible music that we All know and love. Daniel and Noemi’s funny bantering back and forth about who is prettier and their cute smiles and gestures toward each other kept us all laughing and smiling. They Literally tore the house down when a huge speaker came crashing down just inches from Alex their percussionist. Speaking of Alex is a star in his own right as well as he has performed with some big name stars over the years. But as true Performers, they did not miss a beat and kept everyone involved with their music. A couple more performances in the next two weeks and then the Fun really starts as they will be joining The Red Room Cabaret for the opening of the season in November for an extended run. This is a MUST NOT Miss show that will blow you away. Congrats to Daniel and Nomei for bringing Fresh new Face and Sounds. – DAVID WILHOIT

“I saw UsTwo last night at Act II Theater. All I can say is “WOW!” I’ve been hearing that this duo is great, but that prediction was proved true last night! These two singers just ooze sex appeal! They are both so smooth, professional and entertaining (not to mention “gorgeous and funny”), but they managed to remain humble and appealing throughout their entire show. They are both great musicians and Noemi played a “mean” harmonica during their rendition of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man.” Their drummer, Alex, is an award-winning drummer, too, and provided the perfect rhythm to their music! Ustwo’s music took me back to a time when music was music. Their songs had words that you could understand, tunes that you could sing along to, and so much energy and emotion that it sometimes brought tears to my eyes. I truly enjoyed this performance and didn’t want it to end. I am so excited that Noemi and Daniel will have their own show during the main season. It is an absolute winner!” – MARSHA WARD

“It was a truly special night of fun, gorgeousness, and talent! Can’t wait to see more!” – JESSE ROSE ROBERT

“Us Two is the Smash Hit of the summer and will be the act to see this winter season, mark my words. They will grab your hearts. ” – GARY BECK

“I expected no less from this superb duo!” – KEITH MONTGOMERY ASHWOOD

US TWO:  “NEW VOICES – OLD BEATS”

“The lucky gathered audience members were treated to The Smash Hit of the upcoming season, Us Two. They are known widely north in areas as Bucerías and have performed and gained stage presence in the group Enlace with membership ranging from five to fifteen. They said their artistic dream was playing in Puerto Vallarta for avid true fans of music and judging by the overwhelming response from all over the room, they succeeded wildly. Although they have only two more shows in this sneak preview run, Danny announced causing our cheering that Us Two would return for the upcoming fall/winter season here on Act II’s stage. When dates are announced, secure your seats quickly because you can be assured the room will fill appropriately quickly and often. No theater-goer should miss this presentation of young immense talent.

What one hears and feels is a soft, sexy, easy beat with harmonious vocals, shimmering and shaking added to the package. So many attendees felt the projection which showed in their bodies moving back and forth, front and back, absorbing the vibrancy of this terrific duo. Yes, Puerto Vallarta is brimming with fine talent but one needs to be present for one of their shows since they stand high and will do so for many years to come. Danny called them “gorgeous” and “funny” and from then on the two sparred as to who was which one. Settle this now: each is both those delightful adjectives.

A rousing yet sweet “Mrs. Robinson” initiated our trip along their stardom route right before our eyes and ears. Noemi Plascenia studied at the Universidad of Guadalajara’s Conservatory of Music and performed with many musical show bands. She moved to Puerto Vallarta in 2005 continuing her singing career. Daniel Celis hails from Cordoba, Veracruz. His artistic interests started quite early. He studied at the Conservatory of Music in Querétaro, played in bands throughout North America, leading him into various musical genres. His life’s course led to Puerto Vallarta in 2012 and he joined with Noemi in forming this new duo, Us Two. A third member was the world-famous drummer Alex Shilinshy who beat on a remarkable electronic drum kit called Roland Octapad, a small, single-unit system offering percussionists the equivalent of an entire electronic rig in one self-contained unit with the capabilities of an entire electronic collection.

“Ain’t No Sunshine” came across as a silky, slinky and gliding version which enriched the listeners to another sound of this tune. The lovely “Too Much Heaven” from The Bee Gees was styled exactly to their singular sound. Noemi layers her vocals with high notes which nearly stun the audience. “Stand by Me” sent beating waves through the air. It was stunning and very enjoyable. “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” [Don’t wanna close my eyes] is a surprising ballad from Aerosmith. Their strong voices sprung everyone higher with that wondrous melody. It came out loud and clear that this pair was a force this town would need to reckon with, becoming joyous. Happily, they are turning our entertainment world on its ears.

The soft love songs continued with Chris Isaac’s “Wicked Game” [I don’t want to fall in love]. But who would not love Noemi? “Hit The Road Jack” took Ray Charles’ riding the exile tracks away from his girl. Swinging back and forth, emphatic in the lyrics and frustrating movements. Daniel would not have traveled away and who would want him to? A sultry, seductively enticing “Black Velvet” made some shiver in its beauty.

Wham’s “Careless Whisper” brought us back to earth, smiling at this intense harmonic display. “Piano Man”, a masterpiece of Paul Simon, was treated respectfully with their arrangement reflecting their musical approaches. Noemi played an impressive harmonica while Daniel strummed away, singing boldly. “California Dreaming” saluted the many listeners in the crowd who hailed from this state. Noemi sang with clarity the part of Mama Cass. It was a delectable rendition, followed by a strong lusty “Bésame Mucho”, which at this show was sung lovingly and with swirling vocals.

The Beatles would be pleased with Us Two taking their classic “I’ve Just Seen a Face” and making it a love ballad, emphasizing the chorus word “Falling”. One more Spanish language song was offered, “Fuiste tú”, a marvelous composition of Ricardo Arjona who recorded it with Gaby Moreno. A beautiful rendition of ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” was so remarkable in their covering classic hits and enveloping them into their beings. “Lost in Love” ended the night, bursting with succinct harmony, thrilling everyone in attendance. But “Otra” brought them back for a salute to John Lennon which would have made him proud, “[Just Like] Starting Over”. Once again, it proves that the thriving community of Bahía de Banderas is a lure for talent from throughout Mexico, Latin America and many other homes of artists seeking appreciation of their bodies of work. The lucky ones are the people who live or visit here.

Although new to Act II, UsTwo is definitely NOT new to the music scene.  The beautiful Noemi Plasencia is from Guadalajara and studied at the Conservatory of Music at the University of Guadalajara.  Daniel Celis is from Cordoba, Veracruz and studied at the Conservatory of Music in Querétaro.  Both Noemi and Daniel sang in various bands around Mexico, but in 2012, Noemi and Daniel discovered each other and melded their incredible talents, creating an amazing chemistry together!

Ustwo has performed in many parts of Mexico, as well as the United States and Canada.  They specialize in singing remastered arrangements of classic favorites and are much in demand at many of the major hotels in Puerto Vallarta, including the Sheraton, Garza Blanca, Vidanta, the Marriott, Four Seasons, and more!  People are raving about the absolute beauty of their sound.  Lynn from Calgary wrote, “As soon as Danny and Noemi started singing, mouths opened, jaws dropped, and people said, ‘Wow!’”

This show was so well-received that Act II has invited Noemi and Daniel to return with a headliner show in November!  BUT… DON’T WORRY!  You don’t have to wait until November to see them!  They have two more shows this summer, this Saturday, July 29 and Saturday, August 12!  Tickets are available NOW at www.act2pv.com.  Noemi and Daniel are a class act and have it all… they are beautiful, talented, classy and nice people, as well! Don’t miss their show!
