The Governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro announced June 12, 2020 that Puerto Vallarta beaches can reopen June 15 2020. This also includes the beaches and hotel common areas in Nayarit. This opening is after the businesses execute a certification process on Saturday and Sunday where each hotel will be responsible for its beaches and common area to avoid an over-saturation of people.
“We have to start the reopening of hotels and their common areas, because otherwise tourists are not going to start coming. If you have a hotel without a beach or a swimming pool there is no reason to come said the Jalisco state governor. However, Governor Alfaro also stressed, hotels and their common areas should only start opening at 30% capacity, taking care to observe social distancing. The beaches will be open to the public, but the city municipalities will take over the protocols so that they are not over-saturated with people.
“The beaches are a central element of the revival for the tourist destination, and on public beaches, the municipalities will be in charge of complying with the social distancing protocols,” he clarified.
All this will be part of a “gradual reactivation of tourism”, because “we have to learn to live with the risk, because if people are not dying from the virus, people will start to starve”.
Regarding the opening of shopping malls, spas, gyms, tourist excursions, sports centers and golf courses these businesses will not be able to open yet. Monday the protocols will be reviewed so that they can subsequently allowed to open soon. Meanwhile, the clubs, bars, nightclubs and cantinas are not currently under discussion for reopening, nor is there a protocol for them to operate again.
This follows a joint agreement between the Puerto Vallarta city municipal government and some restaurants in the Malecon area, it was decided that a section of the Malecon open for restaurant clients only will be allowed starting Monday May 25, 2020. Here are the Puerto Vallarta gay hotels that are reopening since June 1, 2020.
