Profile
La Catrina Cantina is a Mexican Cabaret showcasing local artists and Spanish music including singers, dancers, and Drag Queens. Music genres range from Mariachi, Ranchera, Cumbia, Salsa, to Mexican Folk music.
With the pandemic further compounding the already difficult situation many local performers faced with finding work and most of the cabarets in town featuring English speaking talent, the owner was inspired to create a space offering a more authentic taste of Mexico giving local talent, from singers to drag queens, a stage to perform on showcasing Spanish music. The bar will also include inhouse food service with Northern Mexican tacos not normally found in Vallarta taco stands.
The bar will have live local entertainment.
The live entertainment will also be broken up with Salsa and Cumbia dancing in order to fill the void of Latin dancing in most present bars and clubs. We will be offering an open mic night on Wednesdays for local talent to promote their shows as well as Salsa Night on Thursdays including free Salsa lessons for beginners at 8pm and intermediate at 9pm followed by Salsa entertainers and dancing. • Alberto Cuevas (El Diamante) will be the Master of Ceremonies most nights offering his powerful Mariachi talent to create that authentic Mexican cantina experience. The bar will also include inhouse food service with Northern Mexican tacos not normally found in Vallarta taco stands.
The décor of the bar is very unique.
The bar is meant to give a modern spin on Mexican culture by creating a warehouse loft feel contrasted with Mexican graffiti, highlighting Day of the Dead Catrinas and folk art. The art was also created by local Mexican artists.
