SETAC’S Mobile HIV Vehicle Arrives

SETAC’S Mobile HIV vehicle arrives and is ready for its customization. SETAC’s Mobile HIV Detection Unit was one of the projects chosen to receive government co-funding, which will allow them to expand their Brigadas por la Vida (Brigades for Life) program, which takes the tools of education and HIV prevention – rapid tests, condoms, lubricants, brochures, prevention packages, etc. – directly to the people in Puerto Vallarta and surrounding communities like Zona Roja. A SETAC doctor will be with van at every remote location for testing and treatment at local bars, clubs and gay events.

SETAC Director Paco Arjona says, “We will be able to reach the local sex workers and transgender who will never come to our clinics for testing or treatment. This mobile unit allow us to take the testing and treatment to them. We are happy to fill the gap between the public and our community who are not getting proper testing and treatment.”

The mobile unit will first been seen as is (customization is not expected to be complete by then) at SETAC’s 10th anniversary at Industry nightclub on Saturday, November 16, at 7:00-10:00 p.m. For logo sponsorship opportunities on the van, contact Alonzo at [email protected]
