Puerto Vallarta adds safety towers, a total of 120 stations, have been installed along with the creation of a municipal police C-2 Monitoring and Command Center that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They were installed six months ago presenting a direct connection between the municipal police and a timely response to an emergency situation. All the safety towers have fixed cameras that transmit audio and video with 20 of them having rotating PTZ cameras that allow long-range visibility,” Elvia Susana Valdez Viveros, third police officer, in charge of the C2 shift. Since installation there have been an average of 50 calls a day, “among the crimes reported being traffic accidents, citizen support and robbery of pedestrians
When someone presses the alert button this initiates a call to the police station Command Center. The operator determines the emergency and passes the report via radio to Base Calle channeling the closest unit to respond along with other necessary emergency responses. The response time of emergency services is 3 to 5 minutes. “The response time is really fast as it is a direct service.”
